Antivirus Protection

Question

Does the built in antivirus protection scan everything including FTP traffic?

To my understanding it is scanning files being put on the system, that should include all protocals/channels bringing the content to the nas.
Somebody with deeper insight might want to comment. Thanks.

It's looking at the file system - it doesn't know (or care) what application wrote the files to the file system.

The software doc to ReadyNAS OS 6.9.3 says it only scans when writing files over SMB (i.e when writing from a Windows share. Here's a qoute:
&nbsp;
"When enabled, the antivirus software scans new files as they are written over the SMB (CIFS) protocol. It&nbsp;does not scan existing files or files transferred over other protocols."
