Back up data from 1 HDD raid 1

Hi,

Since the update 6.9.1 (I don't know if it's because of this), all the directory were in read-only. I couldn't delete or copy a file in admin mode.

I did have a third NAS disk so I swith off one of the two who were on RAID1 configuration (with the data on it), put the third which was free and made a factory reset (after saving the configuration before).

So now I have a brand new NAS but I'd like to know how to duplicate the data from the disk I switched of which has all ma data.

Many thanks for your answers.

Sincerely yours.

Eric

    Unfortunately you'll need to

    • power down the NAS
    • remove the existing disks (labeling them by slot)
    • insert the disk you removed before
    • power up the NAS
    • copy the data off to another location

    Then

    • Power down the NAS
    • remove the disk
    • insert the disks you removed in the earlier step (putting them into the same slots)
    • power up the NAS
    • recreate the shares (if needed)
    • restore the data from the backup.

What you should have done is connected the spare disk to a PC, and backed up the data over the network to it.  Then done a factory reset, and restored the data over the network.

      Hi,

      Many thanks for your answer.

So I tried to powered off the NAS, out on the disk configure in RAID 1 in slot 1, powered on the NAS but the blue button of the power is flashing and no access to the admin page. Any idea ?

As I made a factory setting to my NAS, will I be able to read only ONE disk with my data written before the factory setting ?

If the answer is yes then It will be cool but I can't do anything at the moment with the button that flashes.

Thanks a lot for your answer.

You should be able to boot the NAS if slot 2 is empty.

If that isn't happening, then check the status using RAIDar ( https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads#raidar ).

Also, did you upgrade the firmware on the NAS after you removed the old drive?  If so, the NAS might be trying to upgrade the OS on the drive.
