Can't access shares
I have a ReadyNAS NV+ v2 with radiator 5.3.8
My PC is a Windows 8 Pro machine, I have created a user with a password then created a shared folder and unticked everyone and ticked only the user to have access.
If I go to the name of the server \\homeserver\ and click the file I get prompted for a password and after 10 seconds or so I get:
"You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again"
I have rebooted both NAS and PC and get the same error.
If I go to the IP of the server \\xxx.xxx.x.x\ I can go into the directory without it prompting me for a password and I can copy and delete files in the folder.
The user and pass of windows isn't the same as NAS either.
What is going on.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou are running into a windows restriction. Somehow you already have a connection to the NAS (perhaps a mapped drive). Likely that uses your PC logon.
When you connect to the locked-down NAS share that logon is rejected, so you get the password prompt. But since Windows can't maintain two logons to the same resource, you get the multiple connections error.
However, Windows doesn't know that the \\nas and \\ipaddress are the same resource, so you don't get the error in that case.
You can probably avoid this by going into the Windows Credentials Manager (control panel) and entering the NAS username\password for the NAS. - KazariKAspirant

Question if I may, and please note, I am really not trying to hijack this thread.
I *THINK* Im having a similar problem. I have a ReadyNAS Ultra4 that was all set up and running no problems. I got a new laptop, installed Raidar and all that. I can click on my NETWORK and see my NAS so I created a shortcut to the desk top.
When I go into the different file sections that I created I am unable to move files around.
When I try to move files I get a "Destination Folder Access Denied"
You need permission to perform this action.
Now, I was able to pull up that Windows Credentials Manager, but what it seems to be looking for a location or a address or something.. Am I correct? And if so what do I put? Do I use the stock address of the NAS?
Kaz - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWindows Credential Manager wants you (a) identify the device (b) provide the logon/password credentials you want Windows to use when you access it.
(a) can be either the name of the NAS or the IP address. Actually you can create two records, one with the name and one with the IP Address (and specify different credentials). - KazariKAspirant
