Cannot login to share when it's protected by password

Hi,

I read a few topics related with this issue, but I failed. I have shares on my NAS, that I would like to have private and protected with password. I created shares and users in “Security”, each user has unique name, different than share name and windows login. Then I untick “Allow anonymous access”, and “Read/Write” box next to “Everyone”, and put a tick against my user name, for this share. Then when I try to map this disc or try to get there through net shares, I am asked for Enter Network Password in a windows security popup. I input the password and user, and it won’t go through then. I tried windows password and user, and some other combinations, and nothing works. I checked windows credential manager, there is nothing because I didn’t save anything, so I have no idea how to resolve this. I don’t understand how such simple thing cannot work properly, is this NAS so bugged that it’s not possible to use it normally ?

Here is my setup:

Windows 10 pro

ReadyNAS duo v2

Radiator 5.3.13

Thank you.

Your NAS requires the use of SMB 1, which Microsoft is deprecating.  Try going into "turn windows features on or off" on the PC, and enable/reinstall the SMB 1 client.

Note SMB 1 isn't a secure protocol, but you'll need it anyway.  In my view the risk on a home network is small.

Hi StephenB, from several posts I learned, that you recommended to overcome various problems related to Radiator firmware by upgrading it to OS6. Please correct me, but would that not also be a valid option in Ayahuasca's case?

He has a duo v2, so converting to OS-6 not an option for him.  It would be if he had an Ultra or a Pro.
