DLNA Service not showing in Frontview
I have a Readynas Ultra 2 than has worked perfectly for 2+ years. Last week, the DLNA Service stopped (I noticed first when I could no longer play music on various DLNA clients). So logged on to check the status in Frontview. There were no service showing under Streaming Services. I mean the tab was entirely blank - no services to enable/disable even if I wanted to. I've tried multiple re-boots with and without scans. I was running 4.2.24, so rolled back to 4.2.23. That at least made iTunes Streaming Server service appear. So I rolled back to 4.2.22 (no difference). Then updated back to 4.2.24. I now have iTunes Streaming Server as a Streaming Service, but still no DLNA service, and no DLNA client on my network works.
No clues in the Log - just than my various re-boots, firmware installs and scans. RAIDar says everything is good. CIFS service is enabled and working perfectly (mapped drives in Windows are all fine). I've even tried accessing Frontview from IE8 instead of Chrome v31 in case this is some funny browser compatibility issue. (No difference).
Any suggestions how to get DLNA Service enabled. Is there some techie command-line instruction I could issue?

- widder18AspirantI also have the ReadyNAS Ultra, and I have exactly the same problem. I had to replace a harddrive and after reboot the "Streaming Services" page in Frontview is simply blank. In addition, when I check "Bonjour Service" and "UPnP" in "Discovery Services" and then hit "apply" the ReadyNAS unchecks both services, i.e. neither will start. Does anyone have a suggestion what the reason for this problem might be?
Thanks a lot! - fmsenhAspirantI have the ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus and see this same problem. I upgraded to frontview version 4.2.25 thinking there might be a fix, but no such luck. Though iTunes Streaming Server was added but not able to activate after checking and apply.
Does anyone have a resolution yet?
Thanks in advance. - mage1AspirantI am having a similar problem.
I have an ReadyNAS Ultra 6 with 6 disks--4-3TB drives and 2-2TB drives. Running the latest Frontview 4.2.25.
I had a disk go bad (a 2TB drive) and now that it's been replaced (with a 3TB drive), things are screwy with the admin interface. Under Streaming Services tab, everything is gone except iTunes Streaming Server. Any attempts to enable that, result in nothing happening--after clicking Apply, the spinner goes away, the page refreshes, and the option is unchecked. Under the Discovery Services tab, I see only Bonjour and UPnP services, but any attempts to enable either one of them result in the same issue--after clicking Apply, the spinner shows up briefly and disappears, the page refreshes, and the option is unchecked. There is no failure messages or anything. I can still browse the shares without any trouble from a windows machine on the network, etc., but the NAS is no longer discoverable to a Tivo or XBOX system.
I tried installing the ReadyDLNA add-on from here http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=27946 -- and it installed successfully, but I can't find it anywhere.
What logs can I look at to determine what is happening? Would an OS-reinstall repair any of this? It's as if the disk failing really screwed up the OS/app install/config... maybe?
As an aside, it's also failing to expand it's volume since the replacement drive is 1TB larger than the drive that failed. I have no idea why, but every time it boots up, it resumes expansion and then immediately fails. One of the more recent log entries in the expansion.log is:[2014/01/16 12:24:55 2583] Not enough disk for a new array, drives with free space: 0, X_level:5
Does this mean my RAID is too full to expand itself? The volume is 6626 GB (59%) of 10 TB used in an RAID Level X-RAID2, 6 disks configuration. I will post this over in the expansion area, but I thought all these details might be relevant together, too.
Anyone have any ideas? My ReadyNAS is out of warranty by < 3 months and it's $380 for a 1 year contract to help me further.
Thank you in advance for any help!

UPDATE: I just saw this update http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=27946 and so I installed it. I checked the TIVO just now and it can see the NAS. I am not sure if it could see it before I installed the most recent ReadyDLNA update, but the Frontview is still not showing any of the DLNA configuration and nor can I enable UPnP, etc. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI can fix this. The UPNP lines in /etc/default/services are missing on some systems for some reason. Putting them back fixes the problem.
- mage1AspirantBig shout out to mdgm--he took a look at my NAS and resolved the issue! :D
- fmsenhAspirantThanks mdgm! I'm not clear on how to implement the fix you described:
"The UPNP lines in /etc/default/services are missing on some systems for some reason. Putting them back fixes the problem."
Would you mind posting step-by-step instructions for us? Or will there be a new update release?
:D - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIf you have tried an OS Re-install and still can't see ReadyDLNA in Frontview
Install this add-on: https://www.readynas.com/contributed/mdgm/addons/x86/FIXDLNANOTSHOWING_1.0-x86.bin - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIf it is more than just ReadyDLNA that's not working then I would probably need to have a manual look at your system to try and see which entries from /etc/default/services are missing which should be there.

This add-on fixed my problem with UpNp not working and ReadyDLNA not displayed in Frontview.
Thanks mdgm! - TrondLaAspirantIm having the same problems.Services turned out totaly empty. Reinstalled servife without anything showed up. My problems started after something else went wrong an the nas wasnt even showing the disks. They came back finally, but then the services was gone. Didnt notice for some days as aksessing through the tv isnt the featurw Im using the most. Stuff like backup has been working from when the drives showed up again.
Dont know what caused this, but its quite annoying. Have tried the one fix that is posted here, that helped for dlna service, but the others except itunes are still gone. Is there a similar fix for those as well?
