Download folder Sabnzbd

Hello,

When Sabnzbd places an folder in the download folder the permissions are set with the admin account.

I have created my own account "Guido" and I am the owner of the download folder. But not the owner of all the folders that Sabnzbd creates in the download folder.
And that way I can't delete those folder.

Is there a sollutin for this?

  • By default Sabnzbd runs with the admin user. I changes this in /etc/default/sabnzbd to my own useraccount, but then sabnzbd fails to start
  • Makes sure permissions on downloaded files are set to 777 within the SABnzbd WebGUI. (Folders Menu Item).

Quick fix for already downloaded files is to open up the share in Frontview, then go to the advanced tab, and use the "Set ownership and permission for existing files and folders in this share to the above settings." option to reset permissions for all files and folders in that share to the user account specified in the "Share folder owner:" item. You might also want to set the group too, otherwise, the way I understand it, only THAT user (and not the group he belongs to) will have read/write/delete privileges on the files once they are reset.

It won't however stop the admin user saving further files to the share, as his privileges are higher than a regular user's.
  • omg gibxxi Thanks for helping on where to look to reclaim the permissions. Geez, I had a folder set up for books and couldn't get it into it until I grabbed the permissions back with your method. Thanks.
