How to backup a Time Machine backup on the NAS to an external HD?
Hi
I would like to backup a Time Machine backup that is on the NAS in the account/home folder. The backup is done in a private way so there is only one Time Machine backup in the folder. But a few others on the volume from other computers in other folders. How do I do it?
I have tried to use the standard NAS bakup configuration but seems that only folders accessible using SMB can be configured for backup here, or do I do some simple misstake?
(I have reasonable experience of setting up backup of other folders on the NAS to an external HD and althoug there has been problems with the backup cofiguration in 6.4.0 I think most of that is gone in 6.4.1 that I run now). My hardware is a ReadyNAS 314. On the Mac side the computers are a few years old and still run Mac OS X 10.10.5.
Thanks
Jan Peter

Sorry, the Mac OS X is 10.10.5 and nothing else!

When you create a backup, for the source select Local, click Browse and click on the NAS name at the top left. Then to the right you will see Time Machine as one of the options, select that.
Thanks mgdm. I have just got a new RN214 and needed to do exactly this. However, once we have created a backup of our Time Machine data, how can we restore it? I see no 'Time Machine' option when selecting 'Local' as Destination...
