Initial setup for new diskless ReadyNAS Pro 4-bay
Hi.
This is probably a dumb question but the documentation seems to suggest that I need to start with only a single disk in the unit:

I have 4 brand new 2TB disks for use in this machine - can I just add all 4 at once or do I have to do them individually?

"Obtain at least one hard disk drive that appears on the NETGEAR Hardware Compatibility List."
then
"With the unit turned off, insert a disk into a drive bay"
followed by
"Turn the unit on and perform a factory reboot."

- you can add them all at once.
generally its is best to start with one disk (because there is no resync to take time), to make sure everything is working and get the firmware updated.
once the firmware is current, power down, insert all disks and perform a boot menu factory default.
this way you start with the most current firmware image, and you avoid time consuming expansion/resync cycles by adding disks one at a time. - Thank you very much for the quick reply, I appreciate the advice. I shall follow the "one then 4" process you suggest.
