NAS 516 will not boot - displays "memory error"

Yes - I listed the relevant 6-bay models above.  You can directly migrate the disks, and the system will boot up with the same config as the RN516 had.  All the shares, user accounts, etc will be there.

However, I was wondering as to whether you know of there are any other NAS box systems apart from Netgear that I could purchase in order recover my data from the disks?
