Password reset is not working
Hello. I have a ReadyNAS 104, where none of my passwords are working. Even the master password reset. And, that one I know intimately. They are documented, but it's like the hardware has...

But, would the OS kill the password access?
It could of course, since it is the OS that does the logon authentication. It could also be a GUI issue - something might be messed up in the web server that is trying to apply the settings.

If I had access, I know I could work this out.
How familiar are you with linux?

I can stumble through updating via Linux, but here's the NUMBER ONE reason I believe I have a hardware issue:
Using RAIDar, I am provided with FOUR drives.
Only two are mounted.
WTH?!
Did I miss a class? LOL

Four drives, but only two RAID-1 mirrored volumes. Volumes are what are mounted on the network. Class dismissed.
If you still have hardware warranty coverage (3 years for the original purchaser) you can contact support at my.netgear.com. If you are correct, they will send you a new unit free of charge. If you aren't correct (my bet is on that), then you'd need to pay.
If you don't have hardware warranty coverage, then you better hope it's software.

I think he means he removed two of the drives (that made up one volume), but the NAS still shows 4.
If that's the case, the NAS still knows of the existence of the other volume, even though the drives are missing, because you just yanked them out instead of dismounting them (you couldn't, since you can't get into the GUI). If you were able to get into the GUI, it would show that volume as "unknown". It's actually a bad idea to just yank out a volume, but it will typically re-mount OK. You may need to go and re-apply attributes to the shares it contains once it's re-mounted, though.
