In all honesty it for the most part seems like more of the same. It obviously has the cloud features like Readydrop but I don't use those.
It is nice to have snapshots finally. The genie app service is a horrible horrible experience.
The tool-less disk installation seems extremely flimsy. The plastic contraption seems like it will snap off at any time. They could have built those disk caddies better, especially for the price. I also don't like that the door is now glossy plastic. Not only seems cheaper but attracts a lot of dust and it really shows up.
I am glad they've finally bumped the ram up in these devices, albeit to only 512mb. They've been skimping on this for far too long. Add-ons run well with the specs, sabnzbd/couch potato/sickbeard/transmission all seem to have enough resources.
I wouldn't recommend this device as readily as previous models, it is still good but I would take a good look at the alternatives this time before making a choice on the readynas.
