Readynas Duo 2 Remote access with ipad

I am trying to access the shared folders on my Readynas Duo v2 using an ipad running the ReadyNas Remote app.
I have managed to access the Readynas, but cannot access any shares. The app finds my Readynas and says "Connected as [username]", but when I click on the Nas ID to access the shares it comes up with "error. please check that your service on your ReadyNAS is running and that you are running the latest version of the ReadyNAS Remote add-on"
I am running firmware version RAIDiator 5.3.7 which I understand does not have a separate add in as it is included in firmware. Remote access is running in Settings and shows Internet Connection and On Line both ticked and green. The username of the ipad is shown in the access list. FTP is enabled for home shares and is showing green on the Overview.
Any ideas very welcome as I am now stumped! :?

- You didn't use FTP client, right? Enable smb in share setting then try again.
