Rsync Setup
Hi,
Ive looked through my Readynas Duo user manual, but
still a bit confused as to how I setup Rsync.
i.e. do i need to open ports on my firewall,
Do I need to setup user names and passwords.
Is the host name just the external IP of the remote duo, etc
Can anyone help please.

- amac27Aspirantare you performing Rsync via internet? if you are you will need to do port forwarding.
Here is an article for setting upt Rsync via SSH - http://www.readynas.com/?p=2032.
If you still cannot configure rsync, please contact netgear support. - vandermerweMasterIs the Duo the source or target?
Depending on the answer to that question, then where is the other unit (target or source)? Is it on your LAN? - RoddneyukAspirantBoth the source and destination are readynas duo's
the link will be via the internet.
Thanks for the link ill be reading and trying it out later.
Dave - JarnoGGuideIn your internet router you will have to forward port 873 to your Readynas and then the host is indeed the external IP of the other nas.
For each share that you like to access over rsync, you will have to set a username/password. After you have enabled rsync on your nas, you will see the icon for it in your share listing.
Assuming you're backing up from the source to the destination using a Frontview Backup job you will have to set the source to the share you want to backup from and select the folder you want to backup, so for instance:
Source = "Share:media" for the media share
Path = "/Videos" for the folder "Videos" in your media share
Destination = "Remote: rsync server"
Host = external IP or URL of the destination
Path = "media/Videos" if you want to backup to the media share in the folder Videos.
In the link amac27 gave, there's some stuff about SSH. I don't see that option on my Ultra 2, but it seems the rest is pretty much the same.
