TFTP Boot Recovery

When performing TFTP Boot recovery. When I uploaded the files with tftp server, the readynas turned itself off. Then I restart it by doing 5 second reset. It starts creating volume but then after a while it disappears from RAIDar and only power led is lit. No act or disk leds... Is there something wrong?

  • TFTP is not a recommended option these days. If anything, should try the USB recovery method.

Why are you doing this in the first place? What happened?
  • The RAIDar first said "Corrupt root" and after resetting it few times it said "TFTP_REQ".

I also installed new harddrives and its still corrupt root or TFTP_REQ.

    I have Readynas DUO v1.
I guess this is a guide to USB boot: http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=159

Yes that's the guide for USB Boot Recovery for the v1. Link to the USB image is in the FAQ.

I guess you should try a USB Boot Recovery followed by an OS Re-install or Factory Default.

If it still doesn't work contact support. If still within 3 years of purchase an RMA might be needed.
  • I started the USB Boot 10 minutes ago and only power led has been blinking. Nothing else. RAIDar shows nothing also.
