A good file recovery program that you might wish to use is the following:
http://www.stellarinfo.com/linux-data-recovery.htm for linux systems (a commercial product).
OR
You can also try Ultimate Boot CD which is completely free (see http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/)
1. a. Simply boot your PC with a copy of Ultimate Boot Cd that you have burned
b. Make sure that you have placed your PC disk in a USB/Esata drive enclosure or disk caddy and is connected to your PC.
2. Select DDRescue from the list of applications
