cannot update to itunes streaming server 1.0.3

Hi,

Can someone direct me as to what may be the issue here.

I am trying to update to itunes streaming server 1.0.3 but just keep getting the blue spiing loading icon and not much else seems to happen at all.

Here is what I have already attempted:
1)unchecked itunes service then tried update
2)removed itunes service then tried update
3)reapplied latest firmware package then tried update

all have given the same result as mentioned above.

Any ideas would be appreciated

  • The 1.0.3 iTunes Server update is actually installed as if it were a new add-on, not an update. (At least that's how it works on my ReadyNAS Pro, not sure about the Duo)
  • Update.

jrsmith, thanks for the reply. What you have described is only one menu option on the Duo, so is the same as i've already tried.
Strangley removing it again this morning and then trying to upload the package again worked this time round. However i then got a popup start stop daapd error.
After a reboot, because of the remove i performed, i can no longer see the service under streaming services. So will now need to reinstall the firmware package, then most likely have to try and install the itunes 1.0.3 over the top again without removing first. :-(

You correct that it is an update add-on. It only patches the iTunes Streaming Server.

My suggestions found elsewhere of doing stuff like:
    Remove addon
    Do OS/firmware re-install
    Run CleaniTunesConfig add-on
    Apply update again

was only for if problems were encountered with the update. For most people simply installing the 1.0.3 update should hopefully be enough.

I think the patch might be included in the latest beta firmware, but if you remove the iTunes Server the only way to get it back is a OS/firmware re-install.
  • Hi all,

    Thanks for all the comments.

I have now managed to fix the issue by doing the following, i hope this helps anyone with a similar issue later down the line.

I had to set my pc to have a static ip address, set the gateway, dns and wins ip to the ip of the readynas, and also enabled readynas wins server check box (although i'm not sure if this option was actually needed, it was just what i tried as an afterthought).

Once i had done all of these things it would upload and verify the add-on image file and install the package.
