cp: cannot overwrite non-directory with directory
A similar query was raised in 2010, but did not appear to come to a conclusion. I am regularly getting problems of this kind. The most recent says in full:
SP_Connector.exe certainly does not seem to be a directory, SFAIK it has always been a file. The NAS is running Raidiator 4.1.10 i.e. the latest available.
Is there any way to resolve this?

- Run a filesystem check on the destination. If its on the NAS, use the Volume Scan checkbox on the Shutdown tab.
- Thanks, but the NAS has recently been scanned as part of the upgrade to the latest software. The errors occurred both before and after the reboot and scan.
- Somehow the file flipped to a directory.
Try deleting '/backup//Alison/./SCX-3200_PrintD_3.11.28.00/Application/SPANEL/PanelMgr/SP_Connector.exe' then rerunning the job. - I don't think that would be a real solution. The same error doesn't repeat, even though the same backups are run every day. Some days I don't see an error like that. Today I have one, but it's not the same as the one quoted earlier:
cp: cannot overwrite non-directory '/???/documents/./My Music/??? LETTER TO JOHN ???.doc' with directory '/job_011//./My Music/??? LETTER TO JOHN ???.doc'
(personal data obscured) and I expect this one will go away for the next backup. It looks like a software problem to me. Is there any solution?
