get a newer version of e2fsck!

Hi to all,

rebooting my Netgear ReadyNAS NVX I find everytime an error about the volume scan.
I started to investigate and I found that the e2fsck version is outdated:

# fsck -n
fsck 1.41.14 (22-Dec-2010)
e2fsck 1.41.14 (22-Dec-2010)
Warning! /dev/c/c is mounted.
/dev/c/c has unsupported feature(s): 64bit
e2fsck: Get a newer version of e2fsck!

Will be the next realease include a newer version?

de niro, the NVX is 32-bit. I don't think replacing the 32-bit binary with the 64-bit one on those systems would be a good idea. The 64-bit one won't run on the NVX.

cerri did you move the array in the NVX to it from another ReadyNAS?

Ah, looking at another thread http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=46913 it appears you did migrate from a 64-bit ReadyNAS to the NVX. This would explain why you are getting the error about the unsupported features. In my view it's best not to migrate arrays from 64-bit ReadyNAS to 32-bit ReadyNAS (NVX, 2100v1)

If you backup your data, do a System > Config Backup, do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything) then restore Config Backup, then restore data from backup you would stop getting the error. You'd still be running the version of e2fsck you are now.

hi mdgm, thanks for the reminder,I just checked e2fsck binary of my NVX,as you said, they are 2 different versions,I think cerri should backup data then factory default NAS box which is best way to resolve disk migration issue
  • So, I'll do the backup then the restore.

    Thanks to all!
