permission denied when editing files and folders.
hi guys.
i am having a problem with my readynas duo running the latest firmware. no matter how i try to access the readynas i seem to experience permission issues.
i am sometimes unable to copy new content to the server even by using the RAIDar "browse" function i cannot copy new content to the device. it use to work just fine. i have to mount the NAS using NetDrive to copy new content to it. but i am still unable to say, edit a file or folder name. i get a "permission denied" response when trying to edit files in a FTP program, the NetDrive mount throws no error but just refuses to actually change the file name upon pressing enter. And accessing through RAIDar i also get a permission denied error.
i am logged in via the Admin account in all ways, so it is not a user permission error.
There is also a great portion of the first folders and files i can't seem to delete either. well i can. but when i update the folder, or exits and then return. the files and folders are back. This is really a pain in the neck, as my media players indexing gets screwed up big time with this.
From what i can tell. it was the first files and folders i added to the ReadyNas that seem to be stuck somehow.
is there any other way besides a factory restore ?

- EBrown95831AspirantJust to rule out that it isnt an issue with the permissions set on the shares, go ahead and try the following:
Start by setting going to (SHARE=> SHARE LISTING=> CIFS ICON for appropriate Share) and select 'Automatically set permissions' and 'Do not allow acl...' with 'Read/Write' set for both 'Group Rights' and 'EveryOne Rights.' Then, under 'advanced options' for the share, set share folder owner to 'nobody' and share folder group to 'nogroup'. Then select 'Set ownership and permission for existing files...' and hit apply. Let me know if this works. Thanks. - KrokstadelvenAspirantJust curious:
Is there any differences if you access the resources by its genuine ip address vs. its alias?

thanks my friend. that did the job. it seems that there was some files i added from another computer, and those were the ones i could not edit or delete. changing the permission settings in the advanced tab did the job.
