readynas pro 6 no DNS lookup
So, I have two readyNAS Pros, a 6 and a 2.
But are configured identically (DHCP), and one can resolve names and the other cannot.
On the one that cannot (the pro 6) I have tried switching back and forth between DHCP and static values, and made sure that the right entries are in my resolv.conf file, which they are.
The machine can reach the network though; I have verified that by let it set the time using the IP address of the NTP server.
But I am at a loss as to how to further diagnose, any other ideas??

- chirpaLuminaryDo you have IPv6 enabled on it?
- ScottChapmanApprenticeyes, set to auto config.
- chirpaLuminaryIf you disable IPv6, does DNS work?
- ScottChapmanApprenticeI gave in, backed up my config, and reinstalled the OS. It was working fine immediately after that so, I am just chalking it up to bit rot.
- chirpaLuminaryI've seen rogue file permissions once in awhile, where /etc/resolv.conf or other files get attributes that won't allow it to be written to. Switching between static and DHCP a few times would increase the chances of that.
If you see it again, try this... backup config, then restore it. The restore process corrects file permissions on those files, which may also correct your issue. - ScottChapmanApprenticeI don't think that would have worked in this case since the first thing I did after I verified things working after reinstalling the OS was the restore my full config (I backed up everything except data).
So, I reinstalled again, and just restored what I found missing (like network config).
