ReadyNAS NV+ Fails to Power Up after Power Failure
After a power outage that lasted a day and a half, my ReadyNAS NV+ won't power up. Should I assume the problem is the power supply and that it's just a coincidence that it died just when there was an...

Hi Lestrad,
Have you tried using other power outlet(s) or power cord(s)? If ever you have already tried it, then I advise you to open an online case with NETGEAR Support. State what happened to your NAS and the troubleshooting steps we did to isolate the problem. A replacement power supply for your NAS might be process for you.
Check this article below as reference on how to replace the power supply unit of your ReadyNAS NV+:

Okay, did that, but it still won't power on.
Likely you have a PSU failure, but it is sensible to try another outlet.
You can also pull the disks (labeling them by slot) and see if the NAS powers up. It can't boot, but you will see life on the LCD panel ("no disks"), etc.
Even if the warranty is no longer valid (and it is usually 5 years on the NV+), some units had a service action and are eligible for a free PSU replacement even if they are out of warranty. Definitely worth calling support to see if they can help you.

It was indeed a PSU failure. I took your very good advice and messaged them via the site, and they got authorization to send me a new PSU (I don't know if my unit comes under the service action). It arrived in a couple of days at zero cost to me. They did explain that since my unit is out of warranty (since November 2015), I shouldn't expect another such gesture. But how could I complain? The whole experience confirms my conviction that Netgear is a serious outfit that respects its products and their users, which is more than you can say for many.
On a side note, while I had it apart I went ahead and replaced the standard fan with a Noctua NF A9 FLX, using the middle noise setting, and when I pushed the power button I was sure the unit was still dead until I looked at the LCD and saw it was booting (which it did, and also re-synchronized, without a hitch). That's how quiet the fan is. RAIDar reports the temperature as being good, although I can't give precise figures.
Thanks to everybody for their help, and thanks to Netgear. I'm a happy camper.
