ReadyNAS nv+ v1 FrontView page broken

Hi there,
ReadyNAS NV+ v1 2tb+2tb, raidair and fw to the latest version available, windows 7 home pro
Some History:
- last week NAS suddenly disappeared from LAN, no way to get it back on lan devices, stuck on win error "can't find the path" or device doesn't accept file share (SMB?), BUT still able to see it in raidair and can access admin panel thru firefox, also it was possible to ping it,
- thought was a windows error and tried some solutions found on the net (LmCompatibility key set to 2, winsock reset, connect thru net use cms etc), but no luck
- then NAS disappeared also from raidair and couldn't reach admin page anymore
- made an OS reinstall

where I am:
after the OS reinstall (no factory reset) NAS appears again in LAN map and can be mapped to a drive
BUT admin page in frontview in unaccesible (just like firefox - but also chrome and ie - can't show pictures and menus), and now the NAS can't be see by smart tv via wi-fi (that was my main use)
I'm going to make a backup - i'm waiting for a 2TB portable hd to arrive - but I'm not sure if I'll be able to see NAS drive thru frecommander

Problem
reading the forum I see that it could be a problem related to log files too big in size BUT I didn't install SSH (as I don't know how it works I didn't install it), thus I don't know how to correct the problem
I would prefer NOT to make a factory reset
Maybe I can browse hd using linux reader and delete the log files?
or a USB boot could help? (i already have a usb ready made following this guide http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=159)
OR else ?

TIA

  • You can try accessing the unit using TelNet but make sure you know which files to delete, but if you're going to ask me I'd do USB boot recovery first.
  • Ok, first of all I'll do the USB recovery
maybe you can tell me which files are to be deleted and where I can find them? (I don't know linux commands but can ask to a friend)

but, can I telnet also if ssh is not installed on NAS?
  • Backup your data first.
You may have a full OS partition.
You won't be able to sort this out using linux reader.
I would not do a USB boot recovery this at this stage.

Easiest would be to backup your data, then factory default the nas, then restore your data.

If you had ssh active you could :
    df -h
    df -i

Which would confirm how full the OS partition is.

Not sure how to do this using telnet, you would need to know how to mount the volumes.

Possibly someone else here who can help you further, perhaps hold off doing the USB boot recovery for now and concentrate on getting the data backed up.
