An OS reinstall will reset the IP address to use dhcp, and the admin password will be reset to the default. If you have a duo v1, the default password will be "netgear1". The v2 default password is "password". Data and other settings are preserved.
Do you know which NAS model you have? Read this guide before replying: http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how-to-tell-whether-i-have-a-duo-v1-or-duo-v2-or-nv-v1-or-nv-v2/
The best guides for OS reinstall are in the hardware manual for your model. The main thing is not to do a factory reset by mistake.
