QoS for VOIP on FVS336Gv2|PROSAFE DUAL WAN GIGABIT firewall
Hello,
Would anyone be able to advise on setting up QoS for VOIP phones on the firewall?
On the firewall, I see there is a QoS section under Network configuration -> QoS.
There are predefined service types for SIP-TCP and SIP-UDP but I don't seem to be able to confirm if they are the proper ports (5060).
Also, I see no ports for RTP although not sure if these are of concerne and can probably be added in manually as a mual service,
In Qos type I get to choose between priority and rate control. Am not really familiar with rate control, my real concerne is really just prioritazing the VOIP traffic as top priority. If I select priority, most of the field get greyed out and I am left with choosing a Diffserv QoS Match (which indicates values DSCP 0 - 63), Diffserv QoS Remark (same values of DSCP 0 - 63) and priority (only choices of high and low, so high obviously). Also when I have chosen the type as priority, I can only pick inbound or outbound traffic for the service, not both.
Does that mean that I have to create 2 entries for each service? (2 for SIP-TCP (inbound and outbound) and same with SIP-UDP)?
In another area - Security-> Firewall, I see there is an options to assign a QoS profile to the rules. There only seems to be an option that says "High" (or "None").
I am also not certain if one needs to enable QoS in the area mentoned before (Network configuration -> QoS) at all or if QoS High riority can just be set up on individual rules.
Would be great if someone could shed some light into this.
Much appreciated

Hi david_ba,
Let me share the links below that I found online and use it as reference on how to configure QoS for VoIP on your FVS336Gv2:
How to configure QoS for VOIP on Netgear FVS338 router
HOW TO CONFIGURE VOIP QOS ON A NETGEAR PROSAFE SRX5308
Furthermore, I found this old manual online and this might help as reference guide in the design of implementing VoIP phones in your network:
NETGEAR - Avaya QE Design Guide
Hope it helps. :)

I just want to follow-up on this. Were you able to access the links I've shared to you?

Thanks DaneA,
Didn't really get to look at them yet but look like relevant links.
I had a spare firewall (also Netgear) lying around and swapping that seems to have resolved all the issues.
