Connected to Extender, but no Internet
hello,
I have a range extender (EX6150v2) that has connected to a working public wifi network, but will not connect to the internet. i have seen similar problems on these forums before, but none exactly the same. I travel around the country in an RV, wifi coverage is almost always very very weak. but with that said, i DO NOT have access to the router, so i have no info on the brand/firmware.
the status of the extender is:
Band is 2.4GHz, Fastlane is ON with extender receiving 2.4GHz and transmitting 5GHz
Firmware: v1.0.1.50
signal strength: full signal @ 104mbps
SSID is listed correctly
Channel: 6
Connection status is Connected
Extender status:
SSID is listed correctly with _5GEXT
Channel: 36
Region: North America
Wireless Mode: up to 54Mbps
Broadcast Name: On
WPS: Not Configured
Security Type: WPA-PSK[TKIP]+WPA2-PSK[AES]
I have tried both Dynamic and static IP configurations, also tried different channels.
my PC is running on windows 10,
microsoft edge 38.14393.1066.0

Hello cojack86
Some public networks require a web login in order to use them the extenders can not use these type of networks.

- HaihacongAspirantHi DarrenM, I'm using the same model EX6150v2 and I have successfully set it up but there's no internet connection. It is extending for a public wifi and there is no sign in for it. Clarifying that there is no no need to sign in, how do I solve this problem? Thank you in advance!

Hello Haihacong
It could be a IP issue being a public address typically the extender will assign a 192.168.x.xxx Ip to your device when maybe the public connection could be using something different. Check the Ip address of the main network then check what Ip address you get when connected to the extender. Also if you are using a windows device make sure it sees the network as a home network and not a public one this could limit the connection as well.
