My EX6100 extender switches to amber and stays amber after a couple of minutes
Afternoon all, I bought an EX6100 extender in August this year and have used it since with my wireless network without any problems. All of a sudden since Saturday, this week it has been malfunctioning. It works for a while and then the power light turns amber. It doesnt extend networks when amber and stays amber for the rest of the day unless restarted.
I am not located in a country with NETGEAR offices so I am hoping that it isnt an hardware issue.

Re: My EX6100 extender switches to amber and stays amber after a couple of minutes
Hi Cristao,
Which router is connected to the EX6100?
Are both router and EX6100 running latest firmware?
http://support.netgear.com/product/EX6100
See page 37 of 47 of the manual to reset the EX6100 to factory defaults:
http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/EX6100/EX6100_UM_11Apr2014.pdf
Insert a paper clip into the Factory Reset hole and hold it until the Power LED blinks amber.
Release the button.
All the LEDs turn off for about 3 seconds.
The Power LED lights solid amber for about 30 seconds.
The Power LED lights solid green.
The extender returns to its factory settings
Also try placing the EX6100 in the same room as your router and test your connection.

Re: My EX6100 extender switches to amber and stays amber after a couple of minutes
Type of router = ECI B-FOCUS 0-4G2PW
I have no ability to change the router as it is provided by the ISP. The EX6100 is running the latest firmware.
I have reset the extender thrice and placed it in the same room. Problem is the same - Runs well for some minutes and then turns amber.
Is there a way to view a log of the extender?

Re: My EX6100 extender switches to amber and stays amber after a couple of minutes
Can you please confirm that the reset was a full factory reset (not power on, power off)?
Are you setting up the EX6100 as an access point or extender mode?

Full factory Reset Confirmed. I had to redo my network settings. I am setting the EX6100 up as an extender.

Re: My EX6100 extender switches to amber and stays amber after a couple of minutes
Thanks for the clarification.
Can you please also describe your network topology? Is it only the router and extender in the network?
What laptop/mobile devices are you connecting to the network?

Re: My EX6100 extender switches to amber and stays amber after a couple of minutes
My home is set up with the router and the extender only in the network. I have a Lenovo Y410P which connects to whatever network is active. My family has a couple of devices - IPads, SmartPhones (2 BB Z10s, HTC One and IPhone5), MacBook Air, XBox and 2 Chromecasts. We tested it with just 2 or 3 devices and the problem still occured.

Re: My EX6100 extender switches to amber and stays amber after a couple of minutes
Please login to mywifiext.net and confirm the firmware version.
The latest version is V1.0.1.36_1.0.114
I tested the EX6100 running 1.0.0.28_1.0.66 and navigated to
Maintenance < Firmware,
the Automatic firmware however did not detect the new 1.0.1.36, so if this doesn't work please manually upload the firmware that was downloaded from
http://support.netgear.com/product/EX6100
If your EX6100 is connected to an extension plug, try connecting to a wall outlet.
Do you have any disconnects when connected to just the router?
If your problem persists on the EX6100, contact Support so they can debug your unit:
