NETGEAR WN3000RPv3

So we moved into this house and we inherited a netgear WiFi extender from the previous renters. My question is how far away can I put the extender from the modem? Just FYI I’m sort of clueless when it comes to extenders and this is the first time I’ve had to use one. We have two houses on property and the I would like to extend the WiFi over to the small house behind us. Which is approximately 40-50 feet directly behind the house with the modem. Any help would be awesome. I understand that this device is maybe a few years old and probably not the best extender.
