Powerline 500 XWN5001 setup

System has been working fine for a long time. However, now a change of router requires a new setup. Used Netgear Genie to map the network then the first problem was a constant failure to 'Factory Reset' which meant that the 'Wireless Configuration' menu option never appeared so the unit could not be changed to the new wireless data. Tried all the usual suspects; different plugs, numerous security attempts.

Finally, ended up with the XWN5201 showing 3 green lights and the 5001 showing green for power, alternating red/amber/green for security and steady blue for wifi - but it doesn't work which is no surprise since the wireless cannot be setup!

I've run out of ideas, can anyone help??  Thanks.

  • Finally solved my own problem. Netgear had changed the system to set up the wireless configuration . . .
