Range extender connection issues
Hi
I am having ongoing WiFi connectivity issues when a device connects to the extender it will not
Subsequently hand-off from the extender to the main router. (TPLINK WP841) when it leaves the range of the extender.
the error message is an ‘incorrect password’ yet the device should connect automatically.
the extender has a different network name but the same password. When I reset the router the device will only connect after turning the power on/off on the router
the problem persists even if I tell devices to forget network and then reconnect
I have allocated fixed ip addresses to all devices in accordance with the advice from my ISP.
I have reset the extender to factory settings and reinstalled from scratch several times.
i am reluctant to keep resetting the router as I run VOIP telephone lines that take several minutes to resynch after each reset.
any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi jailbee - Have you tried setting up the extender with the same SSID as the router to see if the issue persists? Wireless clients won't hand-off as easy without the same SSID.

Thanks for the advice - good call.
unfortunately, I have tried that and as far as I Can tell the hand off was unsuccessful, although I could not tell which router / repeater I was connected to once they had the same SSID. Although the devices connect to the router there was no internet connection.
i continue having to reset the router....so frustrating
thanks agsin

I am having the same issue, I can find my range extender on my computer but it is not connected to my modem/router. Whenever I go to the set up page that is suppose to allow me to connect it it tells me that my extender is not connected.
