Router light won't go on

I just bought this wifi extender and I can't set it up. I have it literally inches away from my router with nothing blocking it and the router light will not turn on. My internet connection from the router is just fine. How can I get this set up without using WPS mode?

Try lowering the wireless channel on the main router and then go into the extender setup and see if it will connect.
