WN604 - can't access to set up
I can't access my brand new WN604 to even start to update it and set it up.
I see that it's default address is 192.168.0.100 but I have it plugged in to a number of computers network jacks and it always just says "Problem loading page" when i search that address in mozilla. The appropriate network jack light lights up on the WN604 and it even registers on my windows network centre as an "Unidentified Network - Local Only".
Why can't i find this thing to set it up... This is the first time out of the box, and I have even hit the Factory Reset.. still nothing.
Please help..
Thanks Matt

Just a thought, and something probably only older people would remember, but you are using a crossover cable if you are connecting direct to a computer aren't you? Otherwise you need to connect to a router or hub. - briansipe7Aspirant

im having the exact same problem. i have spent about 4 hours changing this and that, rebooting computer and access point. im now here because i have exhausted everything i know, so its not like i didnt try like heck!
my router is upstairs and i would like to use the wn604 down stairs as a hot point/access point for a computer.
there are 2 sets of instructions on how to get this to work.
one is to go to routerlogin.net (something like that)
and the other is to do it manually.
obviously i have tried both...
routerlogin just gives me the same error as the OP.
manually, it says to set the computer to 192.......210
so i do that in my lan settings and im finally able to see the AP.
but from here there is no help in the instructions on how to be able to pick up other wireless networks to make this an access point.
i have went through all the settings and reset it a couple times.
how do i have it pick up wireless routers?
i made sure it was set for channel 9 to match the router...
im so close i think lol
thanks! - jmizoguchiVirtuosounit is not extender so you can pick the existing SSID and going
you have to repeat.

sorry, when i posted this, the page timed out and i did not think it posted
(so i created a new thread thinking this was not going to post and figured it was best)
im not looking for a wireless repeater, just a hot point for my downstairs lan so i dont have to run cables downstairs from my router upstairs. the desktops are not wireless that will be using this access point - briansipe7Aspirant

**IM ON WINDOWS XP
ANYONE who is reading this, that is having trouble setting up their ng ap
WN604. here is what i did...
NONE of the instructions tell you to do this...
it was dumb luck.
my firmware version is 2.01 so this may or may not work for you.
i did a hard reset of my router to restore it.
i went to my tcp/ip on my desktop that it was connected to.
i entered in my own ip of 192.186.210 as stated.
then click in the submask and it will fill out automatic
then click ok then click ok and allow the computer to set itself with the new ip.
this may take a minute.
THEN launch IE. go to 192.168.100
enter in admin/password
then go to "wireless" and look for a gray button that says "site survey"
click it and find the wireless network you are trying to connect to and click it.
this will copy your network info over, apply it.
i do not have wireless security set up on my computers because im out in the country with no neighbors.
i then went back to my computer and went back to the tcp/ip proprerties
and click the top button (enable automatic) as it was before
IMPORTANT: YOU MUST GO DOWN TO THE NEXT BOX AND CLICK THE ENABLE AUTO ALSO ... IT DOES NOT RETURN WHEN YOU CLICK THE TOP ONE.
this will allow the computer to grab the ip as it was before. how dumb is it to have to have the computer use a specific ip address just to get to the APs IP wow. anyway, then at the same time reboot BOTH the AP and the computer and let it connect and POW i was online via lan!
GOOD LUCK!!
