Have had an R6400/AC1750 running my wired and wireless cable (Medicaom) connections since 10/2016 with no issues. Did a firmware upgrade a few months ago with no consistent/obvious problems, although a few wireless slow-downs in the subsequent period that I could not pin down. Did notice that there were suddenly issues with the MAC address being required, and had to mirror one from a PC (which it periodically loses). Yesterday I noticed really slow wireless. I pay for 100 Mb/s. If I connect directly to the cable modem, I routinely get about 130. Up until yesterday's measurement, I would get virtually the same wirelessly from the AC1750 anywhere in my house. Yesterday it was 7 (yes, SEVEN) Mb/s wirelessly. I did all the rebootings, powered off for five minutes, etc. Still basically the same. If I wired a PC directly to the ports on the 1750, then good speeds, but wireless was next to nothing. I did a full factory reset on the 1750, and afterward got only 14 Mb/s. Seems there is something severely and suddenly wrong with the wireless transmission speeds. I've got about a month under warranty for hardware, and this is sure feeling like a hardware issue. Any thoughts or previous experiences/resolutions on this issue with the 1750 would be appreciated. I currently have my old Netgear WNDR3400 running and it's delivering about 80 Mb/s wirelessly, so it's definitely an issue with the 1750.SolvedR6300-AC1750 Router doesn't connect to CM600
My R6300 Router will not connect to my new netgear CM600 cable modem. The internet light remains amber. I've done the appropriate power down/reboots on the modem and router with no success. I've done the MAC spoofing of the address of the computer that I used to set up the CM600 on the R6300 with no success. I can connect directly to the CM600 modem with a laptop and internet is fine (the modem is activated with my ISP). Firmware is up to date on all equipment. Additionally the router connects to my CM400 without issue and connected to a previous CM600 before its WAN port died. Does anyone have thoughts as to what I should try next to troubleshoot this?Solved7.7KViews0likes16CommentsCan't enable wifi
Nighthawk R6700 I was updating moved my router to a higher point and for some reason I no longer have WiFi. I pressed and hold the button on the front of the unit but nothing happens. When I go to the GUI page, the basic page shows the "Wireless -> OFF". Any suggestion on how to turn it back on? When I click on that it takes me to the "Wireless Settings" page and the "Eanble Wireless Router Radio" is disabled and grey. I am unable to check it. This applies to the 2.4GHz and 5GHz as you can see below. I just purchased two AC1750 R6400 routers with the intent of using one as the primary or modem router connected directly to my modem and the second as a bridge. I configured the primary router and confirmed that I could wirelessly connect to its 5GHz channel and successfully access the internet via my laptop. Next, I disconnected the ethernet connection of the primary router to the modem and connected the bridge router to the modem so it could be configured. Following the directions in the user manual, I then proceeded to set up the second router by selecting the radio button to "Enable Bridge mode" at the ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings menu location. I clicked the "setup bridge mode wireless settings" and selected 5GHz as the network freqency, populated the SSID field and password with the 5GHz SSID name and password from the primary router, and selected the radio button for the proper "Security Option" on the bridge router to match that of the primary. I left the check boxes checked for both "Get IP Address Dynamically" and "Get DNS Server Address Dynamically" and hit "Apply." After the bridge router updated, I got a message stating, "Please change your computer's IP address manually if LAN IP subnet will be changed," and at the same time, the status light for the internet connection on the bridge router changed from white to red and I lost capability to access the internet. For troubleshooting, I've tried unplugging the power cord to both my cable modem and the bridge router for 5 minutes, but once powered back on, the internet status light is still red and there is no connectivity to the internet. I'm now stuck. I've followed the directions to the letter in the user manual on how to set up the secondary router as a bridge, but I haven't been able to get it to work. If anyone could help me complete a functional setup of my bridge router, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, JamesSolvedTrying to disable WPS (bringing the topic to the top of lists again)
So - I've had my R6300v2 for a day. I've fiddled with most settings and I'm happy that for most things it'll do what I need. ALL EXCEPT WPS! A week ago I ordered a D-Link which shocked me when I found the WPS couldn't be turned off AND the unalterable PIN was printed on the base. Sent it back. Very odd as I have a little DIR-615 which CAN turn WPS on/off and alter the PIN all from the web interface. I looked at NetGear models, read through User Guides and went for the R6300. I definitely got the impression that you could turn WPS on or off. I've tried a whole bunch of variations but WPS stays on regardless ... ON THE TWO MAIN SSIDs. Quite interesting to note that WPS does not appear on the Guest SSIDs when activated. For a moment I thought I had the answer to my problem - use the Guests and disable the main ones. Alas - as you are probably already thinking - turning the main SSID off disables that WiFi frequency entirely. So, I'm left wondering WHY has this feature been omitted? And why is there no official response to at least one of the previous WPS threads on here? In fact, if you search, you'll find one respondent even says they were treated poorly by telephone support when they contacted them. I refuse to believe that a feature available in older hardware is now impossible to implement. The underlying silicon almost certainly has been developed from older designs and they are unlikely to have removed any features. So, come on NetGear - one (or more) of your bright developers needs to say, "You know, there are a lot of articles discussing the problems and insecurities of WPS, as a Google search of the last month shows. Perhaps we should give our customers the ability to turn it off if they want. No-one will moan if we give them more features."Solved
