Please update the Traffic Meter feature for the Nighthawk R7000 to have an increased Monthly Limit that can account into the Tbytes. Comcast as an ISP has began to implement data caps at 1024Mb which equates to 1048576Mbytes but the Monthly Limit field only allows me to enter 104857Mbytes, missing the last digit which is significantly less than the data cap. Given that Comcast is monitoring the traffic it should be available to impose limits and monitor traffic independent of Comcast. It is very important this feature be added. Currently running V1.0.7.10_1.2.3 firmware. This was mentioned in the forums and it was suggested that this be submitted at this location in that post. See below; https://community.netgear.com/t5/VPN-Firewalls/Bugfix-Request-Increase-maximum-monthly-limit-for-Traffic/m-p/1185320#M6496 Original Post "This in regards to the Traffic Meter monitoring function of the SRX5308 VPN Firewall. However this would apply to any device in Netgear's product lineup that monitors the amount of IP traffic per month. Currently the traffic meter can set a monthly traffic limit of up to a maximum of 256000 MB (~250 GB). However, this is insufficient for those who are using Comcast as an ISP where the limit is set to 1 Terabyte (1024 Gb). Request that the montly traffic limit setting be adjustable in the Terabyte range." Reply "I advise you to post your concern as feature request in the Idea Exchange Board for Business here. Be reminded that the community members who will give kudos to your idea will help as the development team will be reviewing the post that has the most kudos and it might be considered to be added on the future functionality of the product."60KViews8likes20CommentsEX7000 wont work with VPN
I'm using an Arris Surfboard modem with the EX7000 extender. My mobile device uses fSecure Freedome as a VPN. Everything works fine when I connect to the modem directly via Wi-Fi. When I connect thru the extender, the VPN icon appears on my device and I see a Wi-Fi connection icon on the phone. But as soon as I attempt to browse to a web site, the VPN icon disappears and the page won't load. If I turn off the VPN, I can browse thru the extender with no issues. So it seems there's some confusion as to how the extender views and handles my VPN traffic. I've reserved the MAC addresses of the extender in the router DHCP table. I do not have an ACL allow/deny list set up on the router. I redid all of the settings of the router and extender back to simple default settings in case I had screwed something up. Nothing seems to solve the problem. Additionally, the 2GHz extension works sometimes (albeit rarely) and will stop working later. The 5GHz seems to always have issues.Solved14KViews0likes18CommentsAC1900 grayed out internet, LAn, Wan setting under advanced steup

Would it be possible to run an ethernet cable from my cm600 cable modem to set nighthawk ac1900 R7000. Then connect an ethernet cable from my ac1900 to my ac2200 wifi range extender for the wifi. Would i have to set my ac1900 in bridge mode? Also this is for the purpose of not only running an ethernet to the ac2200 but another one to my playstation 4 as well. The ac2200 has the option to flip it as an access point instead of a range extender. Therefore i would be able to connect my wifi devices to the ac2200. Basically it would go internet -> cm600 -> ac1900 ->lan cable to ps4, lan cable to ac2200. Sorry I am new to this. Is this completely redundant? I ask this because when i set my ac2200 as extender mode, it will screw up my LAN connection on my ps4 when anyone connects to the ac2200 for some reason. I dont know what settings i'd have to do to fix that.. just wondering if the setup i described above would work just as well.1.3KViews0likes3Commentsr7000 drops internet connection
I've been reading reviews now and it appears now that the following is a known issue that they just refuse to fix. I've been an IT System Administrator for over 20 years and I would not buy another Netgear product again after dealing with their support which doesn't admit there is a known problem. I had the Netgear WNDR3400 and never had any trouble with it. I bought the Nighthawk R7000 and for $200 and my experience with other Netgear hardware I thought this unit would be great. I have had nothing but trouble with it. The Nighthawk r7000 is constantly going down. I upgrade firmware and it craps out and I have to redo the configuration. I get up in the morning and no wireless, I have to reboot it. Sometimes it goes down 2-3 times a day. The other day I got up and again no wireless, I rebooted and that didn't fix it. I go into the configuration and it says the wireless is turned off. First time I had this issue and you have to hold the wireless button on the front for about 10 seconds to turn it back on. This is ridicules that this unit has so many issues. Of course it's now out of the 90 warranty and Netgear says as long as the correct lights are on it not a hardware issue so pay us to troubleshoot or fix it yourself. When the device is a lemon, you can't fix that! NOW THAT I’M WRITING THESE REVIEWS, I FIND THAT USERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUES I’M HAVING. THEY HAVE ALSO CONTACTED NETGEAR TO NO AVAIL. BOTTOM LINE, BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT.Solved45KViews2likes28CommentsI live in a hotel. Looking for extender

I just bought a AC1900 with DST adapter to replace my ASUS router. First question, the DST adapter only gives me about 60Megs when my PC is connected to the gig port (PC has gigE interface), no where close to 1Gig bandwidth. What throughput should I expect over the ethernet connection of the DST adapater ? I then tried using the Netgear AV500 powerline adapter with my AC1900 router. plugged the AV500 into one of the GigE ports on the AC1900 router; once plugged in, my PC that is connected via wireless loses its "Internet connection, even though it is still wirless connected to the network. When I unplug the AV500 from the AC1900, the internet connection is restored. Any idea what could be the issue ? Note: I had the powerline AV500 connected to the old ASUS router and it works without issues. Calling Netgear support directly; they routed me to Bestbuy Geek Squad; but the Geek Squad was no help. Thank-you.Solved3.1KViews0likes2CommentsRouter Keeps Rebooting
Router R7000 keeps rebooting by itself. Called netgear, replaced product twice but eventually ends up in same situation. Sometimes works for days and then all of sudden Router keeps rebooting by itself every couple of minutes or hours. Can't believe $200 router would behave this way. Had switched to $30 router and works like charm... Netgear doesn't seem to have clue, makes me repeat same troubleshooting steps from script which I have by heart now. Anyone faced with similar issue ....any resolution?Solved257KViews0likes27CommentsNighthawk C7000 AC1900 Slow speeds
I have Comcast Blast internet and was getting a little over 100mbps with the xfinity router but I decided I was tired of renting so I bought a surfboar modem that also got roughly 100mbps. The surfboard had to keep being restarted daily so I took it back and exchanged it for this Nighthawk C7000 which is way more stable and suposed to be faster. The problem is that now when I do speed tests from xfinity speed test or speedtest. net. I am only getting between 25 and 30mbps. Speeds are consistent on phones, wifi computers and wired computers. I was getting 100mbps on all devices just before I switched so I know it's not them. I know the C7000 is plenty capable of 100mbps so I've tried all the channels and changing the mode speeds to each and every setting and nothing gets over 30mbps. Today I just did a factory reset and that also did nothing. Also all 24 downstream Bonded channels are showing locked. Only 3 upstream are showing locked but I'm more concerned with the download speed. Thanks for any help, DexterSolved24KViews0likes4CommentsAC1900 Doesn't Connect to 5ghz
Hi, my AC1900 randomly stopped connecting to my 5ghz Uverse router. The 2ghz works perfectly and I've reset the router and extender several times. After every full re-set the 5ghz works for some period of time but routinely stops working. I'm able to connect to the regular 5ghz so I know the router itself is working but the extender is unable to pick it up and extend it. As the 5ghz is mich more powerful, this is affecting many of my applications. Any tips? Thanks!
