Please update the Traffic Meter feature for the Nighthawk R7000 to have an increased Monthly Limit that can account into the Tbytes. Comcast as an ISP has began to implement data caps at 1024Mb which equates to 1048576Mbytes but the Monthly Limit field only allows me to enter 104857Mbytes, missing the last digit which is significantly less than the data cap. Given that Comcast is monitoring the traffic it should be available to impose limits and monitor traffic independent of Comcast. It is very important this feature be added.
Currently running V1.0.7.10_1.2.3 firmware.
This was mentioned in the forums and it was suggested that this be submitted at this location in that post. See below;
Original Post
"This in regards to the Traffic Meter monitoring function of the SRX5308 VPN Firewall. However this would apply to any device in Netgear's product lineup that monitors the amount of IP traffic per month.
Currently the traffic meter can set a monthly traffic limit of up to a maximum of 256000 MB (~250 GB). However, this is insufficient for those who are using Comcast as an ISP where the limit is set to 1 Terabyte (1024 Gb).
Request that the montly traffic limit setting be adjustable in the Terabyte range."

I'm having this issue as well. In Genie, the monthly traffic limit only allows for six digits in the box but my ISP has larger download allowances measured in terabytes. The way it is now the monthly traffic report on the R7000 is not accurate because of this limitation - both through Genie & through the router itself.
Please extend the monthly traffic limit to adequately cover larger allowances.
I'm on Firmware V1.0.7.10
Thanks!

Having the same issue as well. My ISP (COX) just started imposing a data limit of 1TB as well and I just found this issue as a result. Tempted to wipe the router and install a custom firmware / use my pfsense boxes as the main router again if I cant get this resolved.

- Owl1AspirantHi,I now have an R8500 Netgear Smart Router now, instead of the R7000.I’m sure both units use the same software, but if not, could the Traffic Meter Monthly Limit Increase to REVIEWED be applied to the R8500 too?I have the same problem with the R8500 which needs an increase in the monthly meter limit as well, enough for an extra two numerical spaces.Thank you.
same here, please increase this and keep the tools relevant with modern needs.

I see that the issue of the TRAFFIC METER not accomodating at least 2 extra numerical spaces in MB has never been addressed. Please add this to the feature you already have in place in firmware. Either 2 numerical extra spaces in MB or another box that can take input in TB.
I personally think these are essential services for the R8500 as well as the other Netgear routers that include Traffic Meters in their firmware. I don't see them as mere features. This service will become ever more pressing as more ISPs are now offering greater download in allowances in TB & more ISPs will join. Because of this needless limitation in your firmware it will continue to make your Traffic Meters redundant & people will either change over to other 3rd party firmware to solve the problem or buy routers by other manufacturers that don't have this limitation.
Please Netgear address this issue with your R8500 & all other models that use essentially the same firmware & software. It is only an adjunct to what is offered to make use of the function of the Traffic Meter that is already present. Please do this before you become inundated as more & more owners become affected.
Thank you.

I too have this issue. AC1900 R700 nighthawk. It is a real pain, I seem to be the only one in my household who can solve this issue and when I'm not home the other 4 members of my family can not access the net. Is there a way I can change the "Traffic Meter monthly limit"? I pay for 150GB of data ussage per month. Please diriect me as to how I can get this warning message match my data plan.
Cheers!

Yes tmac11, it seems you buy their products & then Netgear appears to do nothing about any issues you bring up - no explanation either, no advice, not even if they "get it". Feels like they're just shuffling papers. In business, communication is key & no matter how big a company is they can be brought down if they continue to ignore their customer base.
I've got an R8500 (expensive) & had an R7000 previously. Essentially the same software but no changes still after a long time. Each firmware revision has the same Traffic Meter issue of limited input which cannot accommodate the higher monthly limits offered by more & more ISP's. They added a new firmware for the R8500 just recently & STILL no change to the Traffic Meter.
It can't be THAT difficult to fix. The function is already there, at the very least they could add 2 numerical spaces to allow TB input or add another box where you can input TB's instead of GB's.
Hopefully they'll do it sooner than later. But if we all pipe up perhaps it'll be sooner as companies don't react until they are made to most of the time. Hard to find ones that are pro-active.
Cheers!

Hi all,
We have started looking at this at the earnest. We will keep you posted on the progress. While the change on router side is trivial, we have to also update the corresponding apps (genie, Up, Orbi, etc.) that have Traffic Meter feature - make sure current customers on older app version can interoperate but also get the changes.
Sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience.
