There are some updates coming to ReadyNAS OS 6.7.0. Aside from some various bug fixes, expanded our use of apt and will now display the more information to app is doing during the installation process. We have added a newer feature to allow app developers to use existing third-party debian repositories within their app. This will allow the developer help provide the newer apps based on updates that may not exist in the Debian Jessie's repo and/or would require a more manual intervention. The new configuration allowed for the ReadyNAS App developers is located within the debian control file. At the end of the control file you are able to add the following user defined fields: XB-Repo: XB-Repo-Key-Url: XB-Repo-Keyserver: XB-Repo-Key-ID: XB-Repo contains the string that you would have in your /etc/apt/source.d/x.list XB-Repo-Key-Url contains a link to the gpg key file information. XB-Repo-Keyserver is optional and it can contain the repo’s referenced key server. XB-Repo-Key-ID contains the key id that would work with the key server. The ReadyNAS will look at these fields, apply the configuration settings, update the apt list, then run the updated apt ReadyNAS app installation. The following is an example o how a control file would look: Source: nodejs-app Section: contrib Priority: extra Maintainer: Dev ReadyNAS <devreadynas@netgear.com> Build-Depends: debhelper (>= 8.0.0) Standards-Version: 3.9.8 Homepage: https://nodejs.org/ Package: nodejs-app Architecture: all Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, readynasos (>= 6.7.0~T158), nodejs (>= 6.9.0) Conflicts: nodejs (>=7.0.0) Description: NodeJS App for ReadyNAS XB-Repo: deb https://deb.nodesource.com/node_6.x jessie main XB-Repo-Key-Url: ttps://deb.nodesource.com/gpgkey/nodesource.gpg.key NodeJS App Repo Example Note: To help ensure ReadyNAS root volumes are kept at a manageable capacity. We would urge developers to keep the app dependencies under 100MB. Depending on what the installed applications. Document Reference NodeJS (Dev Language) App availabe on GitHub. We will be avaiable in app store once 6.7.0 is released.8.1KViews4likes0CommentsApps by NAStools

User NASTools released several apps last year, but has disappeared from the scene. He has not accessed the forum or his GitHub (https://github.com/NAStools) since December. It appears either he dropped the ReadyNAS like a hot potato, something bad has befallen him, or he won PowerBall. Many are looking for updates to his apps (see Apps-by-NAStools). Updates may become necessary at some OS update. I personally am looking for a ZeroTier update, as there have been some major changes. Many more users are not even aware of these apps because they were only "advertised" through that one thread and a few recommendation of ZeroTier I have made. If I were more of a Linux guru or programmer, I would do so myself. But I'm mostly a hardware guy. I looked at his sources and the Netgear developer guides, and I'm pretty lost. I could install the current ZeroTier version via SSH and apt-get (I started with it like that before NASTools entered the scene), but I'd lose his GUI (which he "borrowed" from the Windows version) and it would install in the OS partition. The latter isn't a huge problem for ZeroTier since it's small, but it could be for others. It would be great if an experienced app developer picked up the ball and ran with it. If anyone has an inclination to become a developer, NASTools' GitHub sources could be a place to start. Personally, I'd have no problem paying a small fee like on RNXtras for updates. If you do charge, it would be nice to hold some aside for NASTools in case he returns. If somebody has some time for some one-on-one mentoring (maybe a roadmap using one of his apps as an example), I could give it another try myself.Community app compatibility with ReadyNAS OS 6.6.0
As of ReadyNAS OS 6.6.0-RC1 the following community apps have been found incompatible with ReadyNAS OS 6.6.0 and removed from our available apps pending update. NETGEAR has previously notified the maintainers of these apps regarding compatibility with our upcoming ReadyNAS OS 6.6.0 release. Downloads for users requiring these apps are available below. It looks like Netgear has an app that is conflicting with the Sickrage app and has asked me to update to with a different port. Sickrage will now be using `6765`: https://github.com/SickRage/readynas-sickrage/releases/tag/2017.06.04-0 I added a category to the app to support the newer app category stuff under the available apps.6.3KViews2likes6CommentsInstall NZBGet 17.1 on ReadyNAS OS 6.6.0 (working)
Hello everyone, I spent some time with @hugbug (offical developer of NZBGet) over the weekend and let him know about the issues we are having getting a working version for OS 6.6.0. He encouraged me to use the offical installer and pretty much guaranteed it would work on OS 6.6.0, while hesitant, I took him up on his offer since he was willing to support the install should anything go wrong. Here is what you need to do to get NZBGet current version working, and best of all the update within app now works! (Note: My machine is RN516, your mileage may vary. This will not give you a visible app in the apps section of front end, but it will persist and auto-start on reboot). This will work very similiar to Sonarr as it just runs all the time in the background and start on reboot of the NAS. Webgui is always availble this way. If you are on 6.5.2, run NZBGet and backup your settings/config to your local computer Uninstall NZBGet Upgrade to OS 6.6.0 Download the installer wget -O - http://nzbget.net/info/nzbget-version-linux.json | \ sed -n "s/^.*stable-download.*: \"\(.*\)\".*/\1/p" | \ wget --no-check-certificate -i - -O nzbget-latest-bin-linux.run Start the installer (default path) sh nzbget-latest-bin-linux.run Start the installer (custom path, I chose /apps/nzbget) sh nzbget-latest-bin-linux.run --destdir /path/to/install/nzbget Test that you get the command console <nzbget-directory>/nzbget -s If you get an error about the config file not being read, you need to make sure a copy of it is in one of the directories it specifies in the error message. Just drag or make a copy of the default config file and drop it into one of the required directories such as /.nzbget Now start a web-browser and open URL http://ip-address-of-linux-machine:6789. You should see NZBGet web-interface. Default login credentials are username: nzbget, password: tegbzn6789. Once you have access to webgui, you can restore your settings you backed up in the old version. (everything backs up perfectly except the paths section. If you try to restore those form the old ReadyNAS app you will get a 404 error not found. This is because the ReadyNAS app and Official NZBGet installer use different folder structures. I had to manually recreate my paths to match the same folders but it only takes a few minutes. Run as a service (Daemon mode) <nzbget-directory>/nzbget -s Let's make NZBGet persist and auto-start on reboot (credit to HTPC setup guide for Debian installations for this one, don't use hugbug's script it doesn't work) Fire up WinSCP browse to and create /etc/init.d/nzbget or nano to create the empty file: nano /etc/init.d/nzbget Paste this code and save the file (Change the path in these 2 areas to reflect your path i.e./usr/local/bin/nzbget -D, /usr/local/bin/nzbget -Q) #!/bin/sh # Start/stop the NZBget daemon. # case "$1" in start) echo -n "Start services: NZBget" /usr/local/bin/nzbget -D ;; stop) echo -n "Stop services: NZBget" /usr/local/bin/nzbget -Q ;; restart) $0 stop $0 start ;; *) echo "Usage: $0 start|stop|restart" exit 1 ;; esac exit 0 Make the configuration file executable and update the init.d to be used at boot chmod +x /etc/init.d/nzbget && update-rc.d nzbget defaults Create /downloads folder or you will get errors that looks like this during the boot sequence: mkdir /path/to/downloads (These nzb.conf errors can be solved by creating the /downloads directory) Start services: NZBgetnzbget.conf(49): Invalid value for option "InterDir" (/downloads/inter/): could not create directory : nzbget.conf(70): Invalid value for option "TempDir" (/downloads/tmp/): could not create directory : nzbget.conf(67): Invalid value for option "QueueDir" (/downloads/queue/): could not create directory : nzbget.conf(61): Invalid value for option "NzbDir" (/downloads/nzb/): could not create directory : Now NZBGet will start automatically on boot! That's it, you are up and running with NZBGet on ReadyNAS OS 6.6.0 Again special thanks to developer of NZBGet hugbug for making this dream a reality, enjoy :)Headphones package based on master branch
Hi, As I've saw that some sites where asking to pay for Opensources product just because they have packaged it, I started this morning my first debian package for the readynas. I've built the headphones app based on the latest master commit. It's by default listenning on https with self-signed certificates I've created, integration with readynas frontend is also done. https://github.com/menardorama/ReadyNAS-Add-ons/blob/master/headphones-1.0.0/debs/headphones_1.0.0_amd64.deb https://github.com/menardorama/ReadyNAS-Add-ons/blob/master/headphones-1.0.0/debs/headphones_1.0.0_armel.deb If you install git from cmd line you can update against the master branch Don't hesitate to give me some feedbackPlex Says ReadyNAS needs Update
I need to update my ReadyNAS 102's Plex Server. When I open Plex and go to settings > server there is a message that there is an update and to manually update it. If I click on the link of the update the following file begins to download. It appears to be a zipped file. plexmediaserver-ros6-binaries_0.9.12.8.1362-4601e39_armel.deb Where should I extract file and what do I do with it after it is extracted? ThanksSolvedSickRage taken over update no longer works, use SickChill
Not sure who noticed that after an update Sickrage stopped working, if you then try to download a new version you land on the sickrage.ca page. If you install that version and want to access the GUI you are redirected to that site where you have to create a login. This page is maintained by a different person echelon, who initially added cryptocurrencyminig to both his site and to the SickRage code. This is part of a long running dispute between echelon and the people who maintaned the code the last couple of years. This group has now forked SickRage and created SickChill, less rage more chill! Myhnlo created an updated installer linking to the SickChill git repo: https://github.com/Mhynlo/readynas-sickchill/releases/tag/201810.15-ml0 Dave
