I need to update my ReadyNAS 102's Plex Server. When I open Plex and go to settings > server there is a message that there is an update and to manually update it. If I click on the link of the update the following file begins to download. It appears to be a zipped file. plexmediaserver-ros6-binaries_0.9.12.8.1362-4601e39_armel.deb Where should I extract file and what do I do with it after it is extracted? ThanksSolvedApps by NAStools

Recently I ran into some trouble (All snapshots disappeared + no new snapshots possible) when I tried to install the UniFi Controller on my ReadyNAS. After I have overcome two small obstacles it works now fine. I would like to share here the solution that works for me on OS 6.6.1: The UniFi Controller needs Java, so we have to install that first. I have choosen Java 7, because Java 8 - my first obsacle - lead me into trouble: sudo apt-get update apt-get install oracle-java7-jdk Then we have to add the Ubiquiti repository and the key: echo "deb http://www.ubnt.com/downloads/unifi/debian unifi5 ubiquiti" | tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/100-ubnt.list apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv C0A52C50 After that, we can install the UniFi controller: apt-get install unifi I copied the systemd service file, to /etc/systemd/system in the case that I have to make some tweaks: cp -p /lib/systemd/system/unifi.service /etc/systemd/system After the install there is the second obstacle, that the software in installed unter /var/lib on the OS partition and the included MongoDB will need 3GB under /var/lib/unifi/db, which is not available. So we have to move the UniFi controller to a place with sufficient space, e.g. /apps: cd /var/lib mv unifi /apps ln -s /apps/unifi unifi And now the Unifi controller should start with: systemctl start unifi.service To access the User Interface of the controller navigate to: https://<IP_of_your_ReadyNAS>:8443 If it is not working, it might be worth to look into the logs in /var/log/unifi. Possible problems: Unifi needs the ports 3478, 8080, 8443, 8843, 8880, 8881, 8882 and 27117. If other Apps use these ports you have to change the settting of UniFi. It might be necessary to activate logrotate for the UniFi logs.SolvedShutdown ReadyNAS from Commandline or Batch file
I want to know how to perform shutdown using command line. I already know how to shutdown using physical button and webui. Hi guys, completely new here. I've just purchased a Netgear ReadyNAS 214 and just setting it up now. I'd like to install Docker on it and from what I've learned so far, Mhynlo has put in a bit of work on getting this to work. I've tried downloading the latest stable and pre-release versions from here: https://github.com/Mhynlo/readynas-docker-cli Unfortunately, I'm having a bit of trouble getting it to install. I keep getting an "Cannot install application docker-cli-rnapp" error message. Help? My goal is to have my ReadyNAS spin up icloud_photos_downloader (https://github.com/ndbroadbent/icloud_photos_downloader) pull files from iCloud on a scheduled basis to backup to storage on the NAS. It's a different approach than ReadyCLOUD and it gives me more control over how files are backed up: An app also doesn't have to be installed (and managed by the end user) Backups are initiated from server-side and not client-side on the device Backups are not managed on the device, which can be confusing for a non-technical end user Delete older content from iCloud if it is already backed up to NAS; This maximizes the use of cloud storage space Any help greatly appreciated!Squid or Other Proxy Server
Hi All, Is Squid available for the OS6, I have been running in on my NVX+ for years but it no longer works, was wondering if there is something for OS6. I factory reset a Ultra 2 and installed on that last week and Squid is still crashing and having to be restarted and "The proxy server is refusing connections" only to find it with a grey dot in FrontViewInstall NZBGet 17.1 on ReadyNAS OS 6.6.0 (working)
Hello everyone, I spent some time with @hugbug (offical developer of NZBGet) over the weekend and let him know about the issues we are having getting a working version for OS 6.6.0. He encouraged me to use the offical installer and pretty much guaranteed it would work on OS 6.6.0, while hesitant, I took him up on his offer since he was willing to support the install should anything go wrong. Here is what you need to do to get NZBGet current version working, and best of all the update within app now works! (Note: My machine is RN516, your mileage may vary. This will not give you a visible app in the apps section of front end, but it will persist and auto-start on reboot). This will work very similiar to Sonarr as it just runs all the time in the background and start on reboot of the NAS. Webgui is always availble this way. If you are on 6.5.2, run NZBGet and backup your settings/config to your local computer Uninstall NZBGet Upgrade to OS 6.6.0 Download the installer wget -O - http://nzbget.net/info/nzbget-version-linux.json | \ sed -n "s/^.*stable-download.*: \"\(.*\)\".*/\1/p" | \ wget --no-check-certificate -i - -O nzbget-latest-bin-linux.run Start the installer (default path) sh nzbget-latest-bin-linux.run Start the installer (custom path, I chose /apps/nzbget) sh nzbget-latest-bin-linux.run --destdir /path/to/install/nzbget Test that you get the command console <nzbget-directory>/nzbget -s If you get an error about the config file not being read, you need to make sure a copy of it is in one of the directories it specifies in the error message. Just drag or make a copy of the default config file and drop it into one of the required directories such as /.nzbget Now start a web-browser and open URL http://ip-address-of-linux-machine:6789. You should see NZBGet web-interface. Default login credentials are username: nzbget, password: tegbzn6789. Once you have access to webgui, you can restore your settings you backed up in the old version. (everything backs up perfectly except the paths section. If you try to restore those form the old ReadyNAS app you will get a 404 error not found. This is because the ReadyNAS app and Official NZBGet installer use different folder structures. I had to manually recreate my paths to match the same folders but it only takes a few minutes. Run as a service (Daemon mode) <nzbget-directory>/nzbget -s Let's make NZBGet persist and auto-start on reboot (credit to HTPC setup guide for Debian installations for this one, don't use hugbug's script it doesn't work) Fire up WinSCP browse to and create /etc/init.d/nzbget or nano to create the empty file: nano /etc/init.d/nzbget Paste this code and save the file (Change the path in these 2 areas to reflect your path i.e./usr/local/bin/nzbget -D, /usr/local/bin/nzbget -Q) #!/bin/sh # Start/stop the NZBget daemon. # case "$1" in start) echo -n "Start services: NZBget" /usr/local/bin/nzbget -D ;; stop) echo -n "Stop services: NZBget" /usr/local/bin/nzbget -Q ;; restart) $0 stop $0 start ;; *) echo "Usage: $0 start|stop|restart" exit 1 ;; esac exit 0 Make the configuration file executable and update the init.d to be used at boot chmod +x /etc/init.d/nzbget && update-rc.d nzbget defaults Create /downloads folder or you will get errors that looks like this during the boot sequence: mkdir /path/to/downloads (These nzb.conf errors can be solved by creating the /downloads directory) Start services: NZBgetnzbget.conf(49): Invalid value for option "InterDir" (/downloads/inter/): could not create directory : nzbget.conf(70): Invalid value for option "TempDir" (/downloads/tmp/): could not create directory : nzbget.conf(67): Invalid value for option "QueueDir" (/downloads/queue/): could not create directory : nzbget.conf(61): Invalid value for option "NzbDir" (/downloads/nzb/): could not create directory : Now NZBGet will start automatically on boot! That's it, you are up and running with NZBGet on ReadyNAS OS 6.6.0 Again special thanks to developer of NZBGet hugbug for making this dream a reality, enjoy :)How to get a Git repository on the ReadyNAS Duo v2
--From the keep your old hardware out of the landfill files-- The instructions on "Setting up a remote git repository on your ReadyNAS" are a bit out of date, and the community git addon is currently MIA. It took a bit of googling, but a local networked git repository is still doable on your DUO v2, so I thought I'd share what I found out. You have to download the SSH addon app from the Netgear addon website, and install it through the dashboard. Then, you need to ssh into the Duo as root using your admin password and add the following to /etc/apt/sources.list deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ squeeze-updates main deb-src http://archive.debian.org/debian/ squeeze-updates main deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main deb-src http://archive.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main (As always, be careful what you type when logged iin as root, And, you might be able to avoid the first two lines, try skipping them and see if it works). Then you can run apt-get update, and then run apt-get install git (the internet says it's best to avoid running apt-get upgrade as it might brick your Duo v2) I found that I couldn't use the mkdir command to create the /opt/git/whatever. It may have been a typo that I didn't catch that prevented me from doing so, but if you find you have trouble with that you can cd /opt then mkdir git. Then cd into the newly created git dir and mkdir whatever to create the whatever directory. Say that three times fast. In the /root directory use vi to create the .bashrc file and populate it with: export PATH=$PATH:/usr/bin export PATH=$PATH:/opt/git/whatever If I didn't export /usr/bin I got errors in the next set of steps. Note: skip steps 1 and 2 as you already did them and go to steps 3 through 7. As per the comments section of "Setting up a remote git repository on your ReadyNAS": Step 3 should read "git --bare init" "To create & populate your remote repository: 1. Sign on to SSH as root: ssh root@your_nas_ip 2. Create the folder for your repository: mkdir /opt/git/what_ever && cd /opt/git/what_ever 3. Initialise the repository: git – bare init 4. Exit SSH (exit) 5. Navigate to the local git project folder: cd projects/etc 6. Add the remote repo: git remote add origin ssh://root@your_nas_ip/opt/git/what_ever 7. Populate the remote repository: git push origin master (using your admin password)." And, then you should be ready to get your git on, minus the gitweb.cgi local Web interface he mentions as you didn't install the community git addon. Also, of note: According to the debian mailing list there's no security support "at all!" for the code from archive.debian.org, so it's probably best to keep the Duo v2 warm and cozy on your LAN, and off the internet. Cheers
