10 TopicsEX6150 Default IP for hardware port
What is the default IP for the ethernet port on the EX6150 v2? The firmware update page clearly states that firmware updates should be done with the hardware port. https://kb.netgear.com/000049574/EX6100v2-EX6150v2-Firmware-Version-1-0-1-54# "To Upgrade Note: To avoid wireless disconnect issue during the firmware download process, NETGEAR recommends that firmware upgrade be performed on a computer with wired connection." But the procedure on that page is useless! There are no wireless networks yet. I have to unplug the computer from the wired network to plug into the EX6150. But I can't find the IP listed anywhere! On all other devices, I set the computers IP to be on the same sub net as the default IP, bring up a browser, type in the devices IP for the address and the device shows a login window that gets me to the settings pages. I am setting this up for someone offsite, so there is no wireless network. I need to set it up solely with the ethernet port! What is the default IP for the ethernet port on the EX6150 v2? It is actually a EX6150 v2 but that Model was not available from the drop down Logged in last night to change my config so the extended network had separate SSIDs from the router (D7000 AC1900) as it regularly stopped the Wifi HP printer connecting to the wifi. The Netgear software suggested upgrading to the latest firmware (sorry cannot remember what version) which downloaded to 100% and then applied itself to 100% and recycled itself. Unfortunately it never came back. The power light came back on but no configuration and no way to access. A router reset illuminates the row of Router and client LEDs in pink but once they extinguish only the power light remains on and whether I am in extender mode or Access Point mode I cannot find anyway to access the extender. It was originally sourced from the BETA program and had worked fine for 6 months or so. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could recover the device?4.3KViews1like2CommentsEX6150 access schedule
The "learn more" link in the description of the access schedule says that both wired and wirelessly connected devices will have their access controlled via the schedule I've set up. However, only the wireless devices are; the wired computer has full-time access. The firmware is up to date, and everything else appears to be functioning normally. What can I do to get the wired devices access controlled by the access schedule I've set?3.6KViews0likes1CommentImpossible to configure EX6150 as access point
While setting up my EX6150 as an acces point, the initial configuration seems to be OK and I can connect to the internet (unsecure/NETGEAR_5GEXT). But whenever I try to configure it with following the link www.mywifiext.net and I start to input my E-mail and answer the security questions, the internet connection breaks down and I cannot complete the registration. Other computers (connected to ethernet) still have stable internet access. I already tried multiple different devices (laptops and mobiles) with the same result. My configuration: Router: AVM Fritz!Box 6490 Cable Switch: Netgear ProSAFE GS108Ev3 --> Ethernet conncted computers, TV... Access Point EX6150 should be used to provide WiFi on 2nd Floor Thanks for helping... Jörg2.1KViews0likes1CommentEX6150 Getting a 404 Error at the End of Set Up
I recently purchased an EX6150 WiFi extender and went through the original configuration a couple of times successfully, but then checked and found that there was updated firmware available. So I updated the firmware and now at the last step of the configuration I am getting a 404 error, File or Directory not found. It was at this point that I noticed the url that it was trying to open was incorrect. Instead to going to http://mywifiext.NET/wifiSettings.html?resp_session=1342479471 (note the .NET in all caps that I used for emphasis) it was trying to go to http://mywifiext.COM/wifiSettings.html?resp_session=1342479471. Clearly, someone made a typo when they were setting the strings for the URL as it should be .net and not .com. I contacted technical support to report the issue, but all that they would tell me was that the 404 error is common and I should not worry about it. I explained that, yes, my extender was working just fine, but that I wanted to report the issue so that it could be corrected. After much back and forth, she agreed to notify a senior-level engineer, but it sounded like she just said that to appease me. So, I thought that I'd make a post here in the hopes that someone else at Netgear would take notice and try to fix the problem. I'm just trying to make the process go more smoothly for the next user of the device, you know? The problem occurs on the last screen of the setup program where it tells you to connect your devices to the network and then you must click a checkbox to enable the continue button. Once you hit the continue button, it tries to go to the invalid address as listed above.Solved6.6KViews1like6CommentsEX6150 as a wfi extender with powerline extenders
I have an EX6150 already and want to add powerline extenders to my network. I noticed in the powerline +WIFI option, the WIFI extender looks nearly identical to the EX6150. So my question is this, if I set up a powerline extension, will the 6150 pick that up thru the electirical outlet and broadcast an extended WiFi signal (and the cable port as well), or would I need to purchase the powerline +WIFI set instead? Thanks Dave4.2KViews0likes3CommentsWiFi Extension to R7000
Hi - I have recently installed a Nighthawk R7000, but it needs a range extension to get to some parts of the house. The R7000 is AC1900 rated. I'm thinking of buying the EX6150 range extender, which is rated up to AC1200. Is this still compatible with the R7000, albeit at a slower speed? I'm put off buying an AC1900 extender as the price is 2-3 times higher than an AC1200 unit. many thanks for any advice. Hey Guys, I have bought a Linksys RE6400 Extender and I discover that it cannot connect on my router over others channels than 36-48. It is a problem for me because the channels 36-48 are stupidly over used in my street. And I will not speak about the 2,4 Ghz channels ;-) Now, I'm looking on Netgear side. Is the EX6150 able to connect over 5 Ghz channels others that 36-48 ? Like 52-64 or over the 100 ? Thanks for your time,Solved5.3KViews0likes5Commentstrouble with ex6150 setup
Running Windows 10. Just plugged in new EX6150. This is initial setup. First attempt was to use WPS but that failed. Next I went to www.mywifiext.net. Expecting setup screen instead i get the Oops! screen. Did I do something wrong or did I just fall through some netgear crack? Please help. Thanks, Manny3.7KViews0likes2Comments
