Hi there, Does anyone know the size of the barrel connector on the GS308P Router? I need to add a right angle adapter to the end of the connector, and I’ve tried both 5.5mm x 2.1mm and 5.5mm x 2.5mm and both are too small. I’m hoping someone has the official size as it’s not listed in the specs anywhere.Help with Inter-VLAN Routing on New XS728T
Hi all I am hoping for some advice We are replacing our current GS724Tv3 with XS724T We are downsizing from 3 to 2 I have been tasked with configuring the new two I am having some difficulty with the inter-Vlan traffic and was hoping for some guidnace or advice. A small breakdown of our networks We are a webHosting Company and have many clients. The Two new Switches will be our main Core Switches We have basically 3 Egress options for the internet. We have Unfiltered(direct internet connection) VLAN1 We then feed to a DDOS system and back into the switches as a Filtered Network VLAN2 This i have working fine. My issue comes with our backup internet line. Currently sitting in vlan1 and being monitored and managed via a proxy system the ISP controls. I need to feed VLAN2 from this connection if the main line goes down bringing the ddos line down. How would i setup the inter-vlan routing for this case?2.5gbe switch MS108EUP broke after 4 days
I bought a Netgear 2.5gbe switch MS108EUP and it completely died after 4 days of use, that's very shocking from a product that claims lifetime warranty. My wife was home and heard a crack noise and all the connectivity was lost after. I've now tested amd the psu is completely dead actually is even shorting any plug that I've tried plugging it. The switch was not using any poe device and only had 3 ports active. This is completely unacceptable from a £300 switch with only 4 days in use and no load on it.769Views0likes2CommentsHow many M4300's can I cascade?
When I first learned switches, I was told you should never have more than 5 connected unless they use a backplane stacking cable. I have them connected via the 10g sfp ports. Anyone know if the 5 stack rule applies to the M4300s? We currently have 5 but may need more.788Views0likes2CommentsSuitable upgrade for an EN108
I've got a patch panel in my home (!) with CAT5 wiring running into various rooms from the patch panel. The patch panel is served by a Netgear EN108 switch. I want to upgrade this to add extra wired connectivity so what would the community recommend that I upgrade to. I would like to have power over internet and also put in some CAT5e connectivity. Could I also daisychain from my unit3KViews0likes15CommentsGS305E not switching to 802.1q Advanced mode
Hi, I have three GS305E switches which all have problems switching the VLAN mode I'd like them all to run on 802.1q Advanced but always get the same problem: upon switching the mode I get the popup that all other vlan configuration will be lost but after pressing 'ok' nothing happens. The selection is greyed out and so are the delete/add buttons. If I reload the page the previous configuration is still active. Any help? ThanksNetgear GS752TP
Hello everyone. Anybody got an extra GS752TP and want to off load it for $100+shipping. *I send you a UPS insured shipping label. My switch went dead after the pipe in the wall leaked, wet the entire wall and shorted out. I am in SoCal. Anaheim area and can drive to LA or SD if needed. Thank you in advance.Optimising setup to maximise broadband speed
Hi, Just joined the community and hooe you all are keeping well! I was fortunate enough to install fibre to the home. I receive about 800MB downlink which is great, but the Netgear switch now seems to be the bottleneck. I phoned my broadband provider and complained that I was only getting 100MB downlink. Their support investigated and discoverd the 100MB link constraint between the router and switch. My route is a Technicolour DGA4134 which is a Gigabit router wth 4 1000MB ports. Currently my set up is to have 1 ethernet conneciton between the router and the netgear switch. All other devices are connected to the switch. Q1 Is my understanding correct that the maximum the netgear ethernet switch port will support is 100MB? Q2 Should I be using the 4 ethernet connections of the router, i.e. each 100MB to maximise the bandwidth? Thererfore acheiving a combined 400MB. Q3 Can I bond the 4 switch ports to create one larger broadband pipe to improve the pacekt management? Q4 if the above is not possible, is there an alternative Gigabit unmanaged switch which can be recommended? Thanks for your help in advance. This is about the GS308PP (and GS305PP), not GS308P, but the form did not have GS308PP to select. Unde the Selection Location field on the form, it defaulted to Nighthawk WiFi Routers. This is not about Nighthawak routers. How do I turn off PoE (Power over Ethernet) on the GS308PP for all or some of the ports? I downloaded the Insight app onto my iPhone, connected my iPhone to the GS308PP switch with an ethernet cable, via a Belkin ethernet adapter. But the Insight app could not detect the GS308PP, GS305PP or any of the devices on my network. What am I doing wrong with the Insight app? How can I turn off the PoE on these Netgear switches?2.7KViews0likes3CommentsDisabling automatic subnet reconfig
I was wondering if there was a way (yet) to disable Orbi’s automatic IP reconfig if it detects a “conflicting” subnet? I understand the spirit of what it’s for, but frankly it’s a bugged feature (yes, see example #2). 1) I began using an AT&T Fiber gateway (BGW320-505) in front of my Orbi. Both devices were configured for the same subnet (192.168.1.0/24), however there were zero IP conflicts or overlapping DHCP scopes. • Orbi: 192.168.1.1 & DHCP Range .150-.190 • GW: 192.168.1.254 & DHCP Reservation for a single IP (Orbi’s WAN, for IP Passthrough). ...but Orbi kept frequently reconfiguring itself for 10.0.0.0/24. I would receive: “To avoid conflict with your Internet Service Provider, your router's IP address has been update to 10.0.0.1.” I assumed perhaps it didn’t like the existence of multiple DHCP servers. Fine. So I reconfigure GW for 172.16.0.0/24. Problem goes away for a bit... 2) Last night I introduced two Netgear GS108Ev3 (managed, layer 2) switches to the network with IPs of 192.168.1.2 & 192.168.1.3. Everything is working properly. The very last thing I do is update their firmware. Click ‘Update Firmware’, it says it’s dropping itself in to loader mode. I perform the firmware update without issue but notice the rest of my network has disappeared. I check Orbi and it has reconfigured itself. Again. I perform the update on the second switch? Same thing happens. There are no DHCP services on these switches. They just exist on the same network. I can at least understand the potential why with the first example (to avoid double NATing and/or routing conflicts), but this...? At best, I’d really like a way to disable this feature. At worst, I’d like to understand specifically what is tripping the behavior as the L2 switches don’t make any sense.Solved9.8KViews0likes28Comments
