I have an R7960P, and I need to examine logs of outbound traffic. Unfortunately, the logs on Advanced->Administration->Logs only show inbound traffic attempts. (Mostly just "Internet Background Radiation" hack attempts which the router blocks.) Is there a way to get logs of outbound traffic? I have some ancient devices that communicate with an unknown server, and I need to see where they're trying to connect to.Solved1KViews0likes2CommentsEAX20 trying to connect to internet via port 8883
Hello everybody, I am currently seeing my EAX20 connecting to the internet a amazon data center via port 8883. I have currently blocked this but I am wondering why it does this? if it is sometthing to do with MQTT, what is it trying to do and do I need it? apart from checking for firmware updates whicj it can still do and I dont have it connected to any app or cloud services, what could be using this? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cant find this answer anywhere and cant do a support ticket because Netgear only offers 3 months support. Anyway thank you in advance.Does the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 Gen 9 16-inch AMD Work Well with Netgear Routers for High-Speed Wi-Fi?
Hi everyone, I recently purchased the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro laptop, and I’m trying to set it up with my Netgear router for high-speed Wi-Fi. Since I use the internet extensively for streaming, online meetings, and downloading large files, a stable and fast connection is essential for me. The IdeaPad Pro 5 Gen 9 16 inch AMD laptop supports the latest Wi-Fi standards, and my router is a Netgear Nighthawk model, which is also known for delivering high-speed internet. However, I’ve heard that sometimes laptops and routers from different manufacturers might have compatibility issues or need specific settings for optimal performance. Here are a few questions I hope someone can help me with: Does the IdeaPad Pro 5 Gen 9 16 inch AMD work seamlessly with Netgear routers, especially for high-speed Wi-Fi connections? Are there any specific settings or configurations I should adjust on my Netgear router for better compatibility? Has anyone faced connectivity or speed issues when pairing this laptop with a Netgear router? If so, how did you resolve them? Does the laptop’s Wi-Fi adapter fully support features like Wi-Fi 6 or 6E that some Netgear routers offer? I’d appreciate any tips, advice, or personal experiences from the community. If you’ve successfully paired this laptop with a Netgear router, I’d love to hear about your setup and any steps you took to optimize the connection. Thanks in advance for your help!Router web software to manage individual devices.
Hello, I am looking for a router that would have the ability using either a browser or mobile app, that would allow me to restart the wi-fi on an individual device. Right now, the router I am using I have to turn off wi-fi for all devices in order to restart the wi-fi on 2 cameras that have issues (long story). So I would like to just be able to select the device that would "appear not online" and restart the wi-fi, avoiding having to do this for the entire wi-fi system. Right now doing that with these 2 cameras fixes the issue. i can only control the priority of internet on these cameras, but i want to control the wi-fi connection to it. Does any router in the Netgear (home) space allow this to happen?467Views0likes3CommentsProduct recommendation for an RV AP with Wi-Fi backhaul.
Hello, I am looking for an AP for my RV that would allow for Wi-Fi backhaul to another local AP. It needs to have an external antenna connector or a removable 2.4 or 2.4/5 antenna. I am thinking that a range extender could work but I would prefer to have my own SSID. A Mesh system would only work if the far AP was the same product. Do most AP's allow for non wired backhaul? Possibly one solution would be a range extender to the far AP along with a local AP using the extender's link as backhaul. ?538Views0likes1CommentR6400v2 OpenVPN latest client versions not supported
I needed to reinstall my OpenVPN client (after BitDefender's VPN, which I don't use, updated and nuked my OpenVPN client presumably due to shared dependencies), and it took me a while to figure out that the latest versions linked on on the https://openvpn.net/community-downloads/ linked to in the router advanced settings GUI are no longer compatible with the R6400v2 AC1750 router. Something about TLS levels? I'm wondering if Netgear is going to send out a firmware update to restore compatibility to the most recent version of OpenVPN client (2.6.11)? Or at the very least the R6400v2 firmware should be changed to indicate in the VPN instruction not to use the most recent version. It concerns me that the VPN is not at the most recent level--I hope this is not a security issue...Nighthawk X8 AC5000 replacement
I currently have a Netgear Nighthawk X8 AC5000 running in Bridge Mode. The unit is starting to fail and I would like to purchase a replacement. Other than searching through the spec sheets of every router, is there a list of available models that are capable of running in Bridge Mode? I emailed Sales, but have yet to receive any response.2.1KViews0likes14Commentscreating offline mesh network, without internet , what model i should use? most needs internet

Hello; for my model described, is there a setting where I can limit the monthly download (say, 200GB) on a specific connected device? I looked through the settings and can’t find anything. The reason I’m even interested in doing this is because Xfinity states I went over my monthly limit, which I’ve never done before, so trying to narrow down which device is the culprit… Thanks!783Views0likes2Comments
