The World’s First Millimeter Wave 5G Connection is here, thanks to AT&T! We’ve partnered up to deliver the Nighthawk 5G Mobile Hotspot, the first standards-based mobile 5G network device in the world. We’re excited to be part of AT&T’s commitment to be the first to introduce mobile 5G services in the U.S. this year. Sorry -- this is a repost with a better subject line: Hi Everyone, FYI, I was able to get AT&T to provide me with an unlock code for my MR1100. You cannot use the web form or myATT app to unlock as it will not validate IMEI. You must call Customer Care, get to Tier-2, and submit a case. You'll need the device phone number, IMEI, and your account pin #. The email response you get in a day or two will say something about carrier selection for an iPad (which is obviously wrong and prompted me to call). You then need to call back and talk to customer care to get the unlock code which is in your case notes. To enter the code, put in a different carrier's SIM, go to the Admin website. Security, SIM security, and then enter the unlock code. It will be an 8 digit numeric code. This unlocked the SIM and enabled me to use my Tmo account as a backup provider. BUT, you do need to manually update the APN for your provider. Not sure if it will save once you add. When you switch SIM's back and forth you will likely need to choose the correct APN each time. Obviously you need to own the device, too. Don't let AT&T tell you its already unlocked (they're not -- just put a different SIM in and you will see). Also don't let them tell you it cannot be unlocked, this is also nonsense. They can be unlocked on AT&T, Telstra, and other carriers. SInce the product is new (Nov 2017) the scripts and notes the tech's have (even Tier 2) don't yet cover this device. Just be persistent !!! All we need now is some new firmware from Netgear/AT&T (PLEASE). A separate thread on this. -JonathanNighthawk M1- Ethernet Port
Hello All, I have a Nighthawk M1 devce and its working just fine, however I have a question regarding the use of the ethernet port... I have been unable to get this to behave in a manner that I would like, wondering if this is possible or not. I would like to connect the ethernet port to another switch (8 Port PoE Switch that I have) to extend the network beyond the Nighthawk device, however I dont seem to be able to get this to work... I'm not looking for a failover type setup, just the abilty to output the 4G internet connection through to the ethernet port for expansion. Has anyone done this ?? Or am I just doing something wrong here ?? Regards SteveNighthawk M1 battery charging problem
I have just bought a Netgear Nighthawk M1 through Telstra to enable working in the field. Plugged into the wallmount to charge and the battery seems to drain instead. It will only charge through USB which defeats the purpose of being completely mobile. There is a community discussion on this going back to 2014 but no obvious solution offered. Any suggestions?Nighthawk LTE hotspot + external antennas
I am in the United States. I purchased the Nighthawk LTE hotspot directly from AT&T. I have several technical questions about the two external antenna ports on this hotspot. 1) Do the external antenna ports support MIMO? In other words does adding a second antenna significantly improve download/upload speeds when using AT&T LTE enabled cell towers? 2) What is the impedance (ohms) of the external antenna ports? 50 ohm? 75 ohm? other? 3) What is the maximum power output by EACH external antenna port in watts? 4) This hotspot has 4 internal antennas (4x4 MIMO and 4x carrier aggregation). What happens to the 4 internal antennas when the first external antenna is connected? when the second external antenna is connected? are the internal antennas disabled? is hotspot MIMO disabled entirely? if the external antennas ports support MIMO, does that mean when two external antennas are connected the hotspot operates in 2x2 MIMO mode?AirCard 770s no battery error
Intermittently my AirCard 770s displays a no battery error. Removing the battery resets the AirCard and the AirCard works ok for 15 minutes then displays the no battery error again. The battery is fully charged. Is the battery the problem or is the AirCard causing this?Hook up MR1100 to Wifi Router
I had an old Unite Pro that had to be hooked up through USB to a Cradlepoint which was then connected to my main rifi router. This new router has a lan port. When I plug it straight into my wifi router, I have internet access everywhere and all is well except that I can no longer access my wifi router (TPLINK ARCHER AC1200) via it's IP addresses for administration purposes. I attached a pic of my setup. I think it's just a matter of IP addresses. Can someone help me figure this out? Diagram of SetupNighthawk M1 Drops Internet Overnight....why?!
I'm on week 2 of trying to get this device to work as advertised or expected. I finally have it working as a pure modem.....kinda. I have a TP Link Router that is my main home router. The M1 has DHCP disabled, IP Passthrough enabled, and is hooked up to the TP Link via WAN port. When it's working, it works perfectly. The issue is that every morning, the M1 has dropped the internet connection. This device is my primary internet and MUST have a continuous internet. I am running it on a 2.0 Charger with the battery removed. The fix is to unplug the M1 and plug it back in. That's it. How do I keep this thing from losing the internet? When it loses it, my TP Link reports all zeros for the WAN connection. It's like something sleeps but I cannot find any setting for it. Please help me get this kink worked out. :smileymad:Any Secret to using an external antenna with the LG6100D?
Hello. I'm thrilled to have a shiny-new Netgear LTE Gateway LG6100D from Sprint, or I was until I cannot get it to work with an external antenna system. I bought a 50' LMR-400 cable and an adaptor to attach a Wilson Wide-Band Yagi - 314411 to my LG6100D. I've attached the antenna cable to both the "Main" and the "Aux" antenna connections, and with the antenna pointing directly at the (one mile-away) tower, I see no difference in signal strength. When connected to either port, I never had more than one bar. I played and tested for over two hours. The only caveat: I was indoors, pointing the antenna out of a window. I plan to test outside as well, but I was shocked to see no change in the signal the entire time. I'm not sure what to do next, aside from reaching-out to other users of the Netgear unit. Is there a special setting to use the antenna ports with an external antenna?
