6 TopicsCompatibility with Hitachi 7K6000 disks
Background information: Have a ReadyNAS Pro 6 unit with 6 Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 3TB disks (which have a 512 bytes sector size). Recently added the last 2 disks to fill all 6 drive bays. Have been using this NAS unit for the past 5 years without problems. While reformatting the 6-disk volume to dual-redundancy and then restoring the data from a backup, I noticed that all disks (including the 2 new ones) were showing a “Raw Read Error Rate” of over 30k some showed 65k. This error rate would grow to 65k, cycle back to 0, and then progressively go up again (in a continuous cycle). While discussing the issue with the vendor that sold me the disks, they indicated that Hitachi no longer manufactures the Ultrastar 7K3000. Decided to replace the disks with something more current and selected the Hitachi 7K6000 4TB disks. Found 2 models of the 7K6000 4TB disks: HUS726040ALE610 (512e sector size) and HUS726040ALA610 (512n sector size). The 7K6000 is not listed in the compatibility list for ReadyNAS Pro 6. The 7K4000 4TB disk (which is in the compatibility list, but no longer manufactured) has a 512e sector size. Question: Which one of the 7K6000 4TB models (512e or 512n) would stand a better chance of success with the ReadyNAS Pro 6 (on which I’ve been using 7K3000 3TB disks with 512 sector size)? Thank you for the help.SolvedHUA723020ALA641 - 2 TB
Anyone used these drives? I need to increase the capacity on my ReadyNAS NV+, so I ordered four HUA722020ALA330 drives, which are on the compatibility list. Vendor sent me four HUA723020ALA641 drives instead. I wrote customer service, which said they must have pulled the wrong drives, but these are newer and potentially better. Vendor suggested these should work fine in my NV+ and suggested I try. But vendor also offered to issue RMA if I didn't want to try. (Didn't say if they have the older compatible A330s in stock ...) I'm thinking of trying these new ones.HGST H3IKNAS40003272SE 4TB Deskstar
We'll, they're closest to Hitachi although owned by WD, hence posting here. These drives have a few good reviews online and are priced similarly to the nas offerings from WD and seagate. They are 7200rpm drives though. They are about to release 5 and 6 tb versions. Ive always been impressed with Hitachi drives and so are Backblaze, although different models, so I'd be keen to see these on the official HCL. In fact I'm a little disappointed they're not there already. Anyone using them?HITACHI Deskstar 5K3000 HDS5C3020ALA632 (0F12117)
Has anyone tried these? I'm looking into the upgrading my NAS and I'm limited to 512k sectors unless I want to do a factory reset, which would be an unbelievable amount of work given the disk juggling I'd have to do. I've been leaning to the lower teir of the Hitachi 2TB drives on the HCL, but I'm concerned about temperatures and I don't care about performance so these drives sound like a better solution. Hi Fellow RNers, Has anyone seen, touched, used or test one of these things: Hitachi DESKSTAR IDK 3 TB SATA - 3.5IN 5400 RPM H3IK30003254SE (0S03343) Its supposedly a 3TB HST drive, pricing is good (at least in the UK), but I can't find any information about it and wonder if its real. If its real, will it work in my NVX? Cheers, KHitachi HDS723020BLA642 2TB 64MB Cache
I have looked through the list of compatiblue drive for the Ultra 4+ and the make and model of drives I have is the HITACHI Deskstar 7K3000 HDS723020BLA642 (0f12115) 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive.I was wondering how up to date is the compatability list since this drive is not listed. Should I assume this drive will not work or that the list is out of date? Has anyone tried using HITACHI Deskstar 7K3000 HDS723020BLA642 drive in the Ultra 4+? Thanks
