HUA723020ALA641 - 2 TB
Anyone used these drives? I need to increase the capacity on my ReadyNAS NV+, so I ordered four HUA722020ALA330 drives, which are on the compatibility list. Vendor sent me four HUA723020ALA641 drives instead. I wrote customer service, which said they must have pulled the wrong drives, but these are newer and potentially better. Vendor suggested these should work fine in my NV+ and suggested I try. But vendor also offered to issue RMA if I didn't want to try. (Didn't say if they have the older compatible A330s in stock ...) I'm thinking of trying these new ones.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserHitachi (actually HGST) drives do generally have a good reputation here, and the '641 is an enterprise-grade drive. But I have no experience with them in a ReadyNAS. I have seen a consumer review on the HUA723020ALA641 that says they are acoustically noisy.
If you decide to exchange them for something else, I suggest WDC WD20EFRX ("Red" drives) or WD2001FFSX ("Red Pro"). The FFSX line is higher performing. Neither are on the HCL (which is almost never updated for the older NAS). The EFRX certainly works, the FFSX should as well. FWIW, I suspect the '641s will also work. - hcivokatsohsAspirantThank you!
