M5300
5 TopicsM5300-52g slow start up when using v11 firmware
Hi During a deployment of a stack to replace an existing one, I ran into a problem. Instead of lift and shift of both units, the 52 port switch running v11 firmware (pre configured) was plugged into a live older switch (running v10). This then sent both switches into a tailspin and broke the configuration of both old and new hardware. The old stack has been restored, however I still need to replace with the 5300 stack. The new M5300 52g switch is showing some VERY strange behaviour even after factory reset and multiple firmware updates and factory resets. Initially after the incident, I had to force a reset using the CLI and to perform a hardware reset from there. Incidentally, all the ports apart from the USB, on the switch just weren't working or detecting any cables. Once I eventually got into the GUI, I could see that it was showing both elements of the v10 AND v11 firmware together. Having followed advice from within this forum, I have loaded v.10.0.0.53 to the switch. This then boots up fine and the ports on the front become live within 90 seconds. However, if I upgrade the same switch to v11.0.0.40 and reboot, It then takes 7 minutes before I can ping it and get access to the GUI. I'm simply not willing to rebuild and deploy this switch until I get this behaving as it was prior to the incident. Please note. I'm pinging the default private addressing 169.254.100.100 and I'm not worried about the config as it's going to need a fresh build. Old kit GSM7228PS and a GSM7352Sv2. Running v10.0.0.53 New kit M5300 52g and M5300-28g-PoE+. Desired firmware V11.0.0.40 I feel I have exhausted all my options and would welcome any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.28Views0likes0CommentsDHCP Snooping missing on M5300-52G3
Hi, I wanted to set up DHCP snooping, DAI, IP Source Guard on our M5300-52G3. But in the 'Security > Control' Panel I can't found other choice that 'Captive Portal' My M5300 version is '11.0.0.31' I tried via SSH too : I checked in the User Manual and the dhcp snooping menu is there Is that Normal ? Are DHCP Snooping, DAI, IP Source Guard unavailable on M5300-52G3 ? Thx for your answersSolved2.9KViews0likes8CommentsDual DHCP helper-address in startup-config
I'm replacing my M5300 stack with a new M4300 stack and I had a question about a routing command in each of the VLANs on my old M5300 stack. My M5300 was configured by Netgear contracted support when we first purchased it, and as I scroll through the startup-config file from the M5300 I see a few commands for each of the VLANs that I have questions about: Question 1: In the "interface vlan" commands listed in the M5300's startup-config (see example below) I see the command ip helper-address 10.1.0.20 dhcp and I was wondering how I add this option via the browser interface on my new M4300 stack, or can it only be done by modifying and uploading a new startup-config to my M4300 stack? interface vlan 2 routing ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0 ip helper-address 10.1.0.20 dhcp exit interface vlan 3 routing ip address 10.1.2.1 255.255.255.0 ip helper-address 10.1.0.20 dhcp exit interface vlan 4 routing ip address 10.1.11.1 255.255.255.0 ip helper-address 10.1.0.20 dhcp exit Question 2: I also noticed that the M5300 stack's startup-config had individual interfaces that were configured to include and exclude (see below). Every interface that was untagged for the default VLAN 1 did not have these "include" and "exclude" statements, but All of the ports configured for untagged VLAN 3 and VLAN 4 did. Can someone clue me in on what these commands might be for, and if they can also be added through the browser interface on my new M4300 stack? Computers on VLAN 3 and VLAN 4 can still access servers on VLAN 1, so I'm not sure what the vlan participation exclude 1 is doing. interface 1/0/19 voice vlan 2 auto-voip protocol-based auto-voip oui-based vlan pvid 3 vlan participation exclude 1 vlan participation include 3 exit interface 3/0/47 voice vlan 2 auto-voip protocol-based auto-voip oui-based vlan pvid 4 vlan participation exclude 1 vlan participation include 4 exit Any help with my above questions would be greatly appreciated. I purchased (5) of the M5300-52G-POE+ (GSM7252PSv1h2) switches and have been running them in a stacked configuration since installation without an issue. I have ProSupport on all 5 of these switches valid until March-2018, and I have submitted a trouble tickets for each through the my.netgear.com support page without an issue. My issue is with the actual lifetime warranty that I thought came with these switches, which is why I've kept my ProSupport subscription up-to-date. After speaking with ProSupport they verified that both switches need to be replaced, but they don’t have any replacements in the “warehouse” right now. They tried to offer replacing the (2) 48 port POE+ switches with (4) 24 port POE+ switches, but I don’t have the rack space to do this, plus my (2) existing switches have AX742 24GB stacking modules installed on them, so if I were to go with (4) replacements I would have to purchase (2) additional AX742 stacking modules to get the 24GB stacking speed I currently have. When I convinced my company go with Netgear and drop the +$11K on all 5 of these switches 19 months ago, I assumed that as long as I kept my ProSupport up to date I would actually get support and assistance replacing these switches when they failed. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can get Netgear to honor the warranty and replace the (2) switches that they have already determined ARE eligible to be replaced IF they ever get any more in the warehouse. I'm on hold with ProSupport again to try and get an update (over 50 minutes now waiting and I havent even reached a live person yet). I'm starting to realize that though these (5) Netgear switches were nearly 60% less expensive than their competition, at least their competition would have taken care of the warranty issue by now, especially since I have proof of purchase and a current ongoing support contract. I'm in shock that I could pay $2100 for each of these switches, along with ProSupport, and still be left in the cold when I have a legit product failure that is covered by the warranty. I'll reply to this message as soon as I have an update from ProSupport. Please feel free to comment and give me any advice on my situation. Thanks in advance, Ted W. P.S. - I also need to purchase (2) new switches for another branch location, but I'm now afraid to go with Netgear if their lifetime warranty support won’t actually replace a 19 month old switch when it actually fails. I’ve gone with their competition before, and while they are about 60% more expensive, there were never warranty issues while I maintained the ongoing support, and equipment replacement under warranty was simple and easy. I guess you get what you pay for.Solved4.5KViews0likes6CommentsHow to connect M5300-52G to Intel® Network Adapter X520 Series
