I’m currently working on the website fominsoap.com, and I’ve been experiencing some internet speed issues. I’ve noticed that my connection speed is significantly slower than expected, averaging around 40 Mbps. I’m wondering if this could be related to my device connecting to the 2.4 GHz band instead of the 5 GHz band, as I’ve heard that the 2.4 GHz band is often slower. Could you provide guidance on how to ensure my device connects to the 5 GHz band for optimal performance? Additionally, are there other factors I should consider that might be affecting my internet speed?Nighthawk Blocking whole network DNS
Hi Forums Goers, I Am desperately reaching out here as I wasn't too sure where else to start, our family home has a Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Router we got it because our ISP router wasn't very good and caused problems a lot of the time. Within the past year or two we have had a load of issues where suddenly the connection for the whole of the house is interrupted usually for a period of half an hour or longer it tends to be random periods of times, sometimes even constantly until the router is restarted. Specifically the problem we have is all the devices go down as if we just disconnected the WAN cable from the router, I can't speak to if this issue is just for AP connected devices or LAN Hardwired ones too. Services like Youtube, Netflix, Facebook all stop working for EVERYONE on the network. What is interesting is smart home devices (low bandwidth) like LED strips still work, Alexa's work once in a blue moon when this is happening. But if you connect VIA a VPN your connection works fine, full speeds perfectly. I only know this as I use VPNS but no one else in house does, this issue always arises when a few of us come back to the house after being away for a few days, we have Apple Devices, the network is dominated primarily with Android Smart phones and regular smart Tv's, Xbox's Etc. It constantly happens when we are here at random times of the day sometimes a few times a day it ruins the network for all and causes havoc in the house. Apparently it doesn't happen when we aren't here with our Apple devices. We use either Armor or Circle I believe it is to protect the network and I know this blocks certain traffic like Snapchat occasionally (lets Facebook, twitter through etc) and would block basic sites like adult sites, gambling, etc. My thought is something the Apple devices use to communicate to Apple servers is causing it to be mass blocked (network blocking 5 or 6 devices) all at once causing a miniature DOS (Denial of service) attack In the network shutting it down where devices can't make DNS requests (google.com) but can use VPN's etc which is so unusual. I Know Apple use Private Relay and our network blocks VPN sites like Surfshark and Nord if you try visit them, doesn't give me a web page just cuts the traffic and generic can't connect to this server page pops up. Technical observations: Fing (Network manager) when this happens gives me the following messages in diagnostics "DNS Resolution isn't working on this network" I Have family strong luck most of the time when I change the DNS of my devices to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) when the outage is occurring and sometimes I don't. As mentioned VPN's completely dodge the problem and let all traffic and device work perfectly. Apparently the Router is up to date. Really hope someone can help this appears to be quite a unusual and uncommon issue. Thank you.1.7KViews0likes2CommentsI need Help! Nighthawk AC1900 Smart WiFi Router (R7000)
No Tech Savvy and very confused. I have a Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Router (R7000) and I have been having the following problems: Slow Internet Lose Connection, but on my computer it says it is connected? I have to go to my Nighthawk App and Bitdefender App and do a scan to get back on the internet. Also when I go to my NightHawk App on y Cell it always Reads different to how many Devices it is protecting under Device Manager. I usually have to Reboot my Router to get back on the internet. Both with my Cell and Computer? With all these accounts, App, and Programs Non Of Them Run In Sink. Meaning I have to go in and Tweek them somehow to start working or turn on. All my Subscription are active. I have turned them off and logged out-logged back in to know eval? It has become confusing and frustrating. Apparently Netgear or Nighthawk doesn't provide any support after your 90 Warranty? I Have NightHawk App on my iPhone I have Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac I Have Bitdefender VPN I Have Bitdefender Central on my iPhone I Have Bitdefender VPN on my iPhone I Have Bitdefender Armor on my iPhone If anyone could help guid me in the right direction that would be Great. ThanksLooks like Nighthawk is abandoned
To all who are curious. It seems Nighthawk is an abandoned product. I loved it when I first got it but recently I tried to activate their services so I could manage my router. It seems the app is unable to connect to their servers for anything other than taking the money for them as everything still shows up as trial and can't activate. I say this is abandoned because upon troubleshooting I see the issue has been around for a year and no progress or troubleshooting steps have been taken since. I have installed the newest firmware, of which the old was newer than this issue, and I've cleared caches on the phone, confirmed the subscription as active, and reinstalled the app while it was inactive. I have an S21 ultra and an S10+ so compatibility isn't an issue and yet still no change. While I understand there may be complications that are reasonable to create this situation, I believe that a patch to allow people to use their hardware without paywalls that can't be breached would be reasonable. Count all installs as purchased or update the firmware so the unit doesn't insist on going through the app. Something to show you accept the fault and plan to correct it once the problems have been sorted. In the mean time, everyone who is uninformed will continue to purchase the services of your product and be charged for a subscription that can't be supplied. I'm sure you're not trying to take peoples money for nothing so please do something to address the issue until it can be resolved properly.1.3KViews0likes3CommentsDoes Router Return "Unavailable" to sender with each "DoS attack" log?
I turned on my PC and immediately got a series of DoS attack log entries. Does each entry in the log mean that the router has returned a message for each log entry that the network is unavailable for some message similar? My CAX30 is blocking my Oculus from connecting to the internet, yet I go to the router, it doesn't show it as blocked. I go to Armor it tells you less than nothing, what a waste of money that was, total garbage. Have you ever seen a security device just say "URL blocked" but NOT TELL YOU WHAT IT BLOCKED??!? Whats the point? It's literally good for nothing. So now what do I do? Nothing says it's blocked but no matter what I do, it continues to block it without giving me any options to unblock it. The Nighthawk App...also does nothing totally useless. What is even the point of it? It's of no help whatsoever. How does it come that I don't get recent firmware updates when checking via the router (actual v1.0.9.88), although there are new ones on the download page of Support (most recent 1.0.11.123 - Hot Fix)? If the problem can't be fixed, I will have to update manually. Can I choose right away the most recent version (5/27/21 - Firmware update 1.0.11.123 Hot Fix), or do I have to install intermediate versions between the actual and the most recent one? Thanks for your answer and advice!734Views0likes1Comment
