Parental Control
65 TopicsOrbi 770 - Enable/Disable joining wifi
For Orbi mesh systems with Parental Control features enabled, it would be great if the ability of new devices to join the network can be controlled. A on/off switch would be practical for locking the known device set or allow new ones to join. This is a spin of the old-fashioned MAC filtering - which is available in absence of Parental Control feature. I see this on/off locking switch approach as more user friendly and enhanced security overall - less tech savvy users don't need to mess around with MAC addresses; they just need to lock the network.Customizable User Profiles for Orbi App – Tailor Your Settings for Each Family Member!
It would be great if the Orbi app offered customizable user profiles, where each family member can have their own settings. This would allow us to manage Wi-Fi access, monitor usage, and set time limits specific to each individual. Parents could create a profile for their kids, limiting internet access during certain hours and monitoring their online activities, while giving adults more control over their own devices. This would make managing family networks easier and more efficient. Plus, it would reduce the need to constantly tweak settings for different users. Would be awesome to see this feature added! Hi Community, I have been using the Parental Control feature In NetGear Router from last 1 year. It works well and I can set time limit for social media usage in my family. However it is missing an important option to allow/deny these apps on certain time frame. Let say, I would like to block social media from 10PM-8AM. But I can't see any such option. Only thing I can do is set a time limit for these apps. or block the whole internet access. Could you please bring up these feature? I think Google's Family link app is a better reference to enhance the parental control options. The issue with Google's Family link is, we can manage only kid's device (up to 12yr old). Another thought is disable Youtube shorts on Yutube app and reels videos on Facebook. I don't think it is possible from router level. However, these are very addictive and i never found an option to block this. 😞 Thanks Eldho VargheseParental Controls on XR500
Folks on this new XR500 router that I purchased recently, I am surprised to find out that Parental controls or any other equivalents dont exist. With NG marketing so much of marketing in the India for gaming and having a family with teenagers, its hightime to bring in the highly successful Parental controls on this router itself. can someone please look into this? thanks258Views0likes4CommentsManually turn off wifi on router ORBI
I would like the option to manually turn off the WIFI on the router that is connected to fibre. I have an ethernet cable and would like to only use a hardwired connection. I am unable to do this at this point on the Orbi router. I have been told it is possible on the Netgear Nighthawk RAX80.159Views0likes0CommentsGuest Network coverage in Smart Parental Controls
I begrudge having to even request this given it's such a fundamental flaw in the SPC app. Am running RBK853 with SPC and it flat refuses to manage devices that are connected to the Guest network. When you try adding a device you get presented with; Smart Parental Controls is not currently supported for devices connected to the guest network. Please make sure the selected device is connected to the main WiFi network. The RBR50 that I ran for 5 years had this capability, yet, the newer more powerful RBK853 does not. And apparently there is no ETA. Maybe I'm the only schmuck using SPC and expecting it to actually do the job of protecting little people from the nasty stuff on the internet - even those guests that visit should be protected. Yet, NG don't see fit to roll this feature out. Be nice to get some support for this feature, please. PS. running the latest FW and App vsns, confirmed by NG Support.
