Hello, Currently have a ReadyNAS 4 bay model 314 is has 2 Western Digital 4T drives and 2 Western Digital 6T drives installed I have been trying to increase the perfromance of this device i.e ready/write speed. The devices are connected via a ISP modem Router rates at 1gigbit ethernet my issue recently has been with writing and deleting from this device has been slow. The network computers are iMac's running OSX 10.12.6 connected via gigabit ethernet. I have traced all possible avenues of where the speed can been effected the buiding's wired with Cat5e ethernet good cable. Also I notice that the device when booting slows when it reaches about 80% and seems to be working hard accessing the drives during boot with nothing to account for this. So I decided to wipe the drives and reinstall factory settings that strips the disks using X-RAiD. Duing the intiall factory reset the device decided to run Resyncing since their is no data on the drives I was wondering why. I also notice a chart in the Volume's menu under setting then select RAID it shows a triangle chart that on each point of the chart indicating three states of the Raid Volume. One state shows Performance in yellow and with a completion circle indicating decreased I assume. I was wondering if my having 2 different Harddrive sizes installed caused degredation of the Volume perfromance and this chart is show that. Would their be any advantage to change the drives to all the same size.Readynas 104 OS 6.4.1 not responding proper
Hi! I have two 104's one with 4*4TB and the other with 4*2TB and both seem to have issues now after I updated to 6.4.1.... both in Raid 10 I cannot copy anything from or to them as the speed is down to almost noting e.g. 0-900 kb/s which in my gb-net is not fine.... I reinstalled OS on one but to no avail.... have looked here but found no definite solution as such, at least according to me. I noted that after the update there was a lot of snapshots taken, however I only scheduled that to once a month. All the disks seems fine but there is a lot of reading of them going on. Factory reset is not an option for me, unfortunately. I do wonder if I have to buy something safer than Netgear, as an update shouldn't have this impact at all? Sorry, but this is the way I do feel just now. All the best Eie5.3KViews0likes13CommentsNew NAS Long Re-Synch
I just booted up my new RN104 with 3 disks (3TB Each) turned it on updated the firmware (Had issues wouldnt boot had to do USB recovery) 2 of the Disks were used one was brand new all are the same make and model and size. Is it normal for the first resynch on empty drives to take a really long time it has dont 23% so far and is reporting that it has just over 24 hours to go. Does that sound normal? ive never used a nas before. Thanks
