Hello, I have recently upgraded to 6.10 on my Readynas 212 and have been constantly hampered by not being able to log into the admin account from Chrome. This occurs 90% of the time stating that too many failed attempts have occurred and retry in 5 minutes. This has not occurred in the past before the firmware upgrade. I have setup a recovery password but I am weary and tired on doing this all the time. I can shh into the Nas which I have done and rebooted and once up attempted to log into the units but with the same failed attemp notice. Can something be done to keep this from constantly happening. Thanks for any help. PS. Even using the recovery password produces the same result of failed attempts!!Solved21KViews1like21Comments[SOLVED!] Having strange issues using your device, and have antivirus enabled?
We have a few reports of users recently who had issues performing tasks on their device. We root-caused this to be related to the Antivirus engine. We successfully tested and pushed the patch to the update server last night. In order to receive this patch: You must be on ReadyNAS OS 6.9.2 (ReadyNAS OS 6.9.3 will contain the fix natively; we will not fix previous versions). Your ReadyNAS must be connected to the internet. You need Antivirus turned off to apply the patch properly. If you don't mind waiting a bit, your ReadyNAS should automatically download and receive the hotfix within 24-48 hours. Check below how to check if you received the patch before turning Antivirus on again. If you want the apply the patch immediately, reboot your ReadyNAS and wait 15 minutes. Check below how to check if you received the patch before turning Antivirus on again. How to check if you received the patch: Go to your ReadyNAS's Admin Page Go to System > Logs, and click Download All Logs Open the downloaded zip file, and open the file apt-history.log Scroll to the bottom and look for a line that shows an upgrade of readynasos to 6.9.2+1: Start-Date: 2018-01-31 10:55:16 Commandline: apt-get -qq install -fy rn-dictionary freeapp-collection readynasos ca-certificates Upgrade: readynasos:armel (6.9.2, 6.9.2+1) End-Date: 2018-01-31 10:55:18 If you have this, then you have received the patch and you can turn on Antivirus again. Please create a thread if you have any issues. Thanks for your patience. Last updated: Jan 30 2018 @ 7:45 PM PacificSolved33KViews2likes2CommentsRAID-5 vs RAID-6 rebuild speed
I have been upgrading disks in my various ReadyNAS units. The 4 bay units are RAID-5 and the 6 bay units are RAID-6. I haven't really seen it discussed here, so I thought I would point out that if you're using RAID-6, the rebuild times are going to be a lot longer than if you're used to RAID-5, due to having to generate the additional parity. For example, I have my RN204 and one of my RN316's. Both are using 7200 RPM drives. Both are going from 4TB to 10TB drives. Both are using FlexRAID. The rebuild speed on the RN204 using RAID-5 is about 95MB/s, whereas the RN316's using RAID-6 is about 30MB/s. I was surprised that the RN316 with its 2 core/4 thread Atom CPU was that much slower than the little dual core ARM in the RN204. I figured that it would be more linear. But, If I remember correctly, my RN516 with its 8 core 2.4GHz Xeon and 16GB of memory was also about 30MB/s using the same 7200RPM drives, it's possible that ReadyNAS OS is artificially limiting the rebuild speed (providing my memory is indeed correct). So nothing earth shattering here, just something I found interesting and thought I'd share.640Views0likes3Comments"Cannot copy - file path too long" NV+
Hi all, again! I have now, so far, no problem to transfer smaller files in large quantities (like mp3's etc), it work flawlessly even over my wireless network. I have a media player (Tvix M-7000A) which is also now connected to the NV+ and it plays movies and music like a dream! (everything through my router Netgear WNR3500 and a D-link DWA-547 wireless NIC on my PC) BUT - as soon as I try to copy a movie file (like 4,5 gb) over to the NV+ it always starts really good, the speed is high....but after just a few minutes I receive the error message: "Cannot copy - file path too long".....and the file names is NOT too long. I've understood that this has to do with the communication between my PC (with XP) and the NV+....correct? My setting is now (in NV+): "auto-negotiation" and MTU 1500...I have tried all kind of settings, but it doesn't help (when I change, I receive the same error when transferring the mp3's etc as well) I followed a tip received earlier to transfer my movie files via USB (through backup function in NV+) - ok, no problem, but it took 2 days to complete the copy (1TB). I really want to avoid running back and forth with a USB drive to transfer files to my NV+, it seems very stone age in my opinion! So, this is my last issue that I really hope to solve...any ideas?2.2KViews1like10CommentsEDA500 gone, now all shares on main NAS don't appear
I had two EDA500s connected to my 316. They both messed up, at the same time resulting in data loss. Now......... in Windows Explorer, I have always seen the old shares names appear in the list. Today I tried to delete the EDA500 and the result was: No shares except for one now shows up in Windows Explorer. Even ones on the main NAS that are folders in /data. There are about 5 shares in /data/ that SHOULD be appearing. If I do ls on /data, they are there. In the UI, there are no shares at all whatsoever. So I am guessing something is out of whack with the smb config. What can I do to f ix this?700Views0likes1CommentReady Nas 516 drive sleep issues with readynasd
Hi Im a new Readynas user, just as they are retired and because my work decided to throw the 516 unit out with 5x 2TB drives included because they didn’t have the required support going forward. It’s already been through a multitude of wipes, resets etc to ensure there was no data included then been upgraded to the latest os. I have setup the options within the web ui to enable drive sleep, I have a few shares all with no access (no smb, ftp anything), the only enabled service is ssh as everything I use connects over this to the shares, all shares do have copy on write but don’t have defrag. I have disabled clamav, disabled the swap partition via systemctl mask, changed journaling to storage=none, moved /var/log /var/tmp /var/cache /var/readynasd /var/backups to tmpfs with startup and shutdown scripts, upped the vfs_cache_pressure dirty_ratio dirty_background_ratio to increase io caching in memory, stopped smb service all to reduce io activity in iotop and lsof which has reduced a lot but the drives still read about 450kb every other minute. The only thing that stops this is if I stop the readynasd service which is fine as I don’t need web interface once setup correctly but does mean I lose the temperature display on the front and maybe it’s shutdown on drive failure etc. is there anything else I should look at to what this service is doing with the drives, the best I can see in iotop is it’s something to do with enclosure monitor. I finally got a new NAS to replace my old RN104. I want to use my RN104 as an offsite backup. The backup will be a backup of a backup so the data isn’t super critical. The new NAS is six bay and will store about 32tb of data. I would like to buy some RE certified drive’s probably 2 20tb and set them up with little or no sync time. Is this even possible? Thanks in advance.Solved1.6KViews0likes1CommentReadyNAS Data migration stuck
I have a 3220 running OS 6.10.7 in one of the offices. It has an SSD tier and then harddrive tier. I noticed that it has been stuck saying the status of "Data migration in progress 23%" for a week. It doesn't make progress, it doesn't seem to be doing anything on the performance page, and it doesn't reset when I restart the server. Any suggestions?1KViews0likes1CommentRN316- Curious on getting hacked or just system error/disk error
Things before situation happened that i think is related: Version :6.10.7 Antivirus on(Protect ReadyNas OS) IPv6 disabled Streaming applications disabled wan connection Router (blocked all traffic which output to wan) with no vpn profile enabled 3 Disks with Raid 5(Following is Diagnostics): Disk 1 has 1XX Reallocated Sectors Disk 1 has 1XX Reallocation Events Disk 1 has 1 Command Timeouts(not sure) Disk 5 has 8XX~9XX Reallocated Sectors Disk 5 has 8XX~9XX Reallocation Events (Planned to buy reserve disk later) Volume root is 7X%~8X% full 1 normal user ac and 1 user admin ac are allowed to use SSH before reboot It could be making snapshot at about time as i remembered (Shouldn't be related but still mention) In the past, i installed emby server using root ac (idk this will cause problem before). So volume root was fulled once before. And i am now sure that is installed using my user admin environment.(Btw,why it won't displayed on Admin page) Just before , i tried to stream video(by plex) form nas severely but all got error caused and computer side software terminated itself. Then, tried to get in admin page but all get login incorrect messages(i tried all my password combo(i know not recommend)). So i think system bugged and use power button to reboot. During reboot , it got jammed at progress 88%. I tried to log in admin page but stuck in loading. I suddenly think out it may get hacked before, so i log into router to block all wan network to my RN. Few minutes later, boot complete. Antivirus got disabled, history/logs before reboot disappear. After above happened,I use Diagnostics function in RAIDar: Disk 1 has 195 Reallocated Sectors Disk 1 has 195 Reallocation Events Disk 1 has 1 Command Timeouts Disk 5 has 984 Reallocated Sectors Disk 5 has 984 Reallocation Events Volume root is 99.76% full /var is consuming 2272 MB I want to locate what the problem is.Also how to recover logs to analyze? As i am not very familiar to unix-like system cmd If any attachment is needed to analyze, feel free to ask👌Appreciate if anyone can helpSolved1.6KViews0likes3Comments
