Readynas 316 PSU failing?

My poor 316, which has been rock solid for years, stuttered on power up yesterday. Basically started to power up after pressing power button then shutdown after about 2-3 seconds, did this 3 times. I then removed the power for a few minutes and tried again, successful startup.

No issues in logs, no issues with disks.

Multiple backups so no great concern about data.

I can only think this is a PSU that is beginning to fail so I’ve ordered a new one (there is a seller on eBay UK that sells one that has the correct pinout for my unit.

I’ve replaced a PSU on an NV+ which is still going after nearly 20 years and my Ultra 6 is still on it’s original PSU.
Without clear evidence that this was a PSU problem I’m not sure whether to leave the existing PSU until there’s a more obvious failure or to replace and hope that there isn’t a

more complex problem (like a

MB issue)

Anyone seen these symptoms before ?

Is the NAS connected to a UPS?

The PSU is definitely a possibility.  Another thing that can cause that behavior is a bad fan.  If the NAS does not detect the fan spinning, it will shut down.  I don't remember if it's far enough in the start-up process to put an entry in the log, but I think it's not.  Most other failures I'm familiar with cause it to fail to boot but don't shut it down.

Yes connected to a UPS (APC 1500 Smart UPS) which as far as I can tell is healthy.

Fan definitely started spinning up so if it is a fan issue it’s not a complete failure. I’ve had no fan speed warnings.
