I am trying to decide which of these two routers are superior technically. They seem almost identical except the x6s says it has 6, external, high performance, amplified antennae, and the x8 says it has 4 active antenae. What does that mean. 2 desktops with AC connections, one we use for streaming to the TV which also has a ROKU device connected to a USB port 3 smartphones 5 Ghz 3 tablets 5 Ghz 2 laptops 5 Ghz and spikes to include, 4 iphones 2 ipads Speeds and feeds as follows but some of the tech talk leaves me wondering the x6s doesn't mention the DLNA server or the Dynamic QoS. Has it been replaced with other tech or jargon and what does it really represent in value Otherwise flash memory is 128, 512 RAM x6s processor 1.8 Ghz x8 processor 1.4Ghz data rate of the x6s is supposed to peak at 1300MBps at 5Ghz data rate of the x8 is supposed to peak at 2166MBps at 5 Ghz Beam forming for both x6s has link Agregate for faster file transfer x8 has Ready Share Vault for automatic backup All input appreciated.Solved6.1KViews0likes2CommentsWifi buffering after installing WiFi Range Extender AC1200Wifi buffering after installing WiFi Range
Initially installed R6400 router. Router installed on second floor of home. Son's bedroom on first floor received poor signal on his desktop that he uses for video gaming. Purchased and installed AC1200 Wifi extender. Since, installing the extender, watching YouTube videos, through my Samsung TV, buffer often and when playing is choppy. I'm assuming my son's video gaming is hogging the broadband width but I'm not certain. Is there a way to monitor and limit broadband width to a specific device? I upgraded my ISP service to 100mbps recently. When i run speed test on my main wifi nighthawk it is close to what I pay for (98mbps vs 100), however when i run speed test on the extended wifi network, it is almost half of that. I have upgraded firmware, reran the setup wizzard, and reset, etc. same results. The WiFi speed in gennie states 143mbps as max potential (G) and there is nothing else on the extended network. Is this normal?584Views0likes1CommentSlow Internet Speeds - Orbi RBK43
I installed an Orbi RBK43 WiFi system yesterday. After the initial install (via the Orbi app), i was getting internet speeds of about 1-2 mb/second. Prior to this, I was reaching 70 mb/sec with my previous router. After spending an hour with Customer Support, my speeds were back up to the 70 mb/second range. Now, today I am back at ~5 mb/second speeds. This is a bit ridiculous for the price you pay for these mesh systems. I have no confidence in Customer Support, so I figured I would reach out to the community to see what has worked for you. Below is a summary of my setup: Orbi Router placed centrally upstairs in my home. One router is 20 feet away in another upstairs room, while the other satellite is approximately 30 feet away on the main level. I have enabled Implicit Beamforming and MU-MIMO. The main unit is in Router mode. I have IPv6 disabled. Firmware has been updated to the latest V1.12.0.20. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.Need to EXTEND Orbi outdoors
I purchased this system 2 months ago and in our 2500 sq ft, 3 level home, coverage and performance have been exceptional, however once you go outside to our patio - which is less than 25' away from the satellite unit - we have seen a major problem with Skype/FaceTime performance (freezing, choppiness etc), which I want to deal with. For this particular scenario I do not feel the purchase of another Orbi satellite is warranted, but I am looking for advice on making this work. I do not have LAN port installed outside, so this would have to be an extender/AP device solution I would think. I was thinking of getting one of the Netgear range extenders, but I honestly don't know if this is going to make my setup overly complex, and if I can get integration to the point of having a seamless transition from Orbi to extender connectivity if someone is, for example, walking with iPad on FaceTime in the house then walks out to the patio where the signal was degraded before. I have read many negative accounts of people trying to do this, so I am hoping that the `Orbi users' can provide some real world context for me on how they solved this issue. Thanks in advance, DanNighthawk X4 performance drops
I have been experiencing random performance issues with my Netgear Nighthawk X4 router. I have very fast internet speeds (160+mbps) but if I load several webpages at once (eg. 5 at a time), they get stuck loading and eventually have no response. This is over a 5G wireless connection. I have to wait several minutes and reload them all individually again. I have disabled QoS, WMM and have the latest firmware but it makes no difference. I must say, this is quite vexing. I expect more from a router of this price and suposed caliber. Any suggestions?Solved4.5KViews0likes5CommentsNo available Firmware for Netgear C3000
I'm having issues with poor connectivity with this combo wifi router. My currect firmware version is V1.01.11, but I've read theres an update available V2.02.08 and nobody seems to have it. My ISP(Time Warner Cable) doesnt have the update so they gave me the # for Netgears techincal support department. I call Netgear and they basically said they dont have it either, nor is it on our support site so "call your ISP back".... GREAT! After speaking to my ISP for the second time, there is no resolve and im stuck with a POS router that i never should've purchased. I know the issue is not my internet connection cause I ran a speed test, which was fine, and its not the brandnew Iphone6. All i know is, Im about ready to sell this POS router and never purchase anything from this company again. To describe the issues, Im constantly getting the wifi disconnecting symbol and getting disconnected for all games that i play on my phone and the videos/Clips are constantly buffering. Does anyone else have this problem?4.4KViews0likes5CommentsR7000 - ISP Says My Router broadcast is Interfering w/ ISP's Incoming Wirless Signal
I have wireless ISP service. There is a 'radio' receiver on the roof which receives the signal from a repeater in the neighborhood - it is line of sight transmission. From there it is wired into the house to a central hub where I have the R7000 which broadcasts to the house and also to a variety of wired devices. My ISP says my router's wireless signal is being detected on the roof and is interfering with the ISP's incoming signal and therefore disconnecting us from the internet intermitantly. They say it is NOT a channel issue. They are running on Channel 8 and my router is on Channel 1. This particular router has beamforming technology. I have implicit beamforming enabled. They used to say that "n-Band" routers interferred with their signal, but with AC technology, that would not seem to be the problem. I'm wondering if you have any suggestions for other things for me to check to prevent the router signal from reaching up to the roof - besides a 'tin-foil hat' which we have already tried! Maybe we need a bigger hat? OR - other suggestions!??!! Thanks in advacne for any help you can provide. DebSolved6.9KViews0likes8CommentsWiFi Performance of JR6150/AC750
Hello, The spec for this J46150/AC750 says 300 + 450 Mbps for 2.4 and 5 Gz respectively. My Fibernet service provider is now giving a speed of 100Mbps (earlier it was 60 Mbps ) however he says this model wifi router doesn't support more than 45 Mbps. I am not clear if I understand him, if the spec says 450Mbps in 5GHz band or 300 Mbps in 2.4 GHz band as Wifi performance, why it wouldn;t be able to give the wifi performance of 100Mbps. The termination in my equipment is using cat 5 cable ( in the wan port ofcourse). Am I missing something ? He is asking me to upgrade to use the full power of the speed. Pls clarify.3.6KViews0likes2Comments
