Hello. I have successfully set up a new R9000 router. I am unable to connect a shared network drive for use in Plex. I am able to successfully connect a shared drive located on a PC running Win7, but I am unable to attach a shared drive on a Mac running High Sierra. The Genie interface does not give me a specific error. It just loads a new blank page for entry of a network drive. There is no specific info in the log, just that the drive failed to mount. I found one similar thread here, but there was no solution there. I can’t be the only one trying to attach a Mac drive. I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Router Firmware: V1.0.2.32 Nas: Synology DS1815+ (Named Vault) I've been following this guide https://kb.netgear.com/000038628/How-do-I-use-my-R9000-Nighthawk-X10-to-add-a-network-drive-to-my-Plex-media-library and when I get to step 9 "The network drive is added and you are redirected back to the main Plex Media Server page." I am not redirected back to that page, instead I am returned to the same page: However the connection I just added does appear in Plex, but no media is ever found. Here is an example of this: The username and password is that of my nas, using any other returns an error. The dvds folder is on the root of one of my nas drives. The IP of the nas is correct. I click apply, it says please wait a moment, then I am returned to the same page, however 'DVDconnection' is now found in the Plex add media section. So I go into plex, add library, add movies, add folder, browser for media folder, choose DVDconnection (it does not show any subfolders even though they do exist) then add library and get "there are no items in this library" after scanning for a second. I also created a connection called fakefolder for a folder that doesn't exist on the nas and I get the same result. Cannot edit or delete a drive connection from the router settings, my added drive connections displayed in the image above are not seen in the router settings: I already have Plex running on my nas before buying the router so I know the media is compatible. Here is a screenshot of it from the plex on my nas: I can access the files from windows explorer. Permissions for DVDs File services: Bought this router especailly for plex because the nas can't transcode very well. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Thank you for reading and I will appreciate any suggestions.Solved13KViews1like7CommentsPlex not showing movie images R9000 x10 or scanning media files for more than one library
I saw that someone previously had a similar, if not the same issue. Their write-up is as follows: " Just setting up Plex on my R9000, connected USB 3 thumbdrive (32GB), and usin g my NAS as storage for my movies. But no image/poster is beeing downloaded, all movies are just grey boxes. Info and so on working fine, but only images not working. Is there a solution for this, working fine when I used my NAS as mediaplayer." In my issue, I have a server set up on my laptop that interfaces with my NAS just fine. However, my laptop is not ideal for streaming movies for several reasons (one being that my PS4 Pro and the router both use 5G and my laptop does not. But I digress) Anyway, I got the new firmware update that allows you to set up a Plex server on the router that uses an NAS. I purchased a 128G Samsung USB3.0 thumb drive, plugged it into the router and opened the Plex server. I added multiple directories into multiple libraries, but the server will only detect movies in one library. Also, in that library, media is matched and the info is working, but the artwork is not present (nor can I add artwork with the upload custom artwork function.) This issue is marked solved on a previous thread, with the solution being listed as: "Solution is formatting to "OS X Extended (Journaled)", not working with FAT32 or EXFAT." I have no idea what that means. Reformat the NAS? (I definitely won't be deleting 12tb of media for a reformat.) Or is it talking about reformatting the USB? If so, how would I go about that? I am very confused and frustrated with this whole process.Solved6.2KViews0likes6CommentsEnable Video Network X4S Nighthawk 7800
Hello, I have the Nighthawk X4S router. Trying to get the best network reliability I can for streaming wirelessly from a Plex server (local server connected via ethernet cord directly to router). What in the world is the TRUE definition of the "Enable Video Network" feature on this router? The manual pushes the definition with the understanding, at least my understanding, this mode is intended for GUESTS. Is it only beneficial for guests (given I allow guest mode)? So bigger question, does this help my steaming capabilities on my private encrypted network...or only for guests logged on to the guest network (if guest mode was activiated that is)? OR, Should I enabled both the Guest mode/network AND check the box "Enable Video Network" and keep my streaming devices connected to the Guest network to get the best speeds for streaming video content? Thanks, NickSolved7.2KViews0likes10CommentsR9000, "Open Plex" is grayed out
I just booted up my new R9000. When I click "enable plex" it recognizes my external hard drive that is connected via USB, but the option to "open plex" remains grayed out. I have tried rebooting the router to no avail. I followed the steps below, but where it says: "Navigate to Hard Drive location and look for Library folder", I don't have this folder. Now I'm stuck... To resolve issue with “Open Plex” button being grayed out after PLEX Media Server is enabled: Unplug the Hard Drive plugged into the R9000 Plug the Hard Drive into your computer. Navigate to the Hard Drive location and look for Library folder. Note: Before deleting the Library folder please go into the folder and make sure that you do not have any media files stored in it as deleting media files will result in those files being lost. Delete the Library folder. Unplug the Hard Drive from your computer and plug it back into your R9000. Launch a web browser from a computer that is connected to the R9000 network. Enter http://www.routerlogin.net in the web browser’s address bar and enter the admin user name and password when prompted. Under the BASIC Tab select "PLEX Media Server" option Click the “Open Plex” and go through the setup process Once the PLEX media server setup is completed you will be able to access your media files from anywhere.Solved6.4KViews1like14CommentsPlex server on R9000 hanging and giving error

I have my R9000 up and running. Powerful Router. Blasts the entire house ~2000sq 2flrs with fast AC. I was running Plex on a VM host in my basement. Plex in Router is great and very responsive, but horribly out of date. v1.1 i think and current is v1.3 Plex says Netgear is responsible for updates. Netgear support doesnt know. The option to manually update is removed. Plus the server kind of goes unresponsive every now and then and jsut doesnt show up. Maybe a version bug. In any event is anyone aware of a method to update the Plex version? Is anyone aware of a method by which the server can be reboot through CLI when otherwise unresponsive? I will probably return it if I cannot get these little things solved. At least in VM i had control of the Server. ThanksSolved9.7KViews0likes12CommentsPLEX Server R9000 - Installation Not Starting
Hello, I'm attempting to setup my Plex server on my brand new router, X10 R9000. I had a PLEX server on my main system and wanted to run it off the router. The issue I'm having right now is when I click enable plex server, nothing happens. The box to 'open plex' stays greyed out. I have tried unchecking the boxes here, then hitting apply, rechecking, apply again, nothing. I have tried using a 128gb disk as opposed to my standard 4tb, and nothing. My assumption is the plex install should start after you checl download and enable PLEX server, but nothing seems to be activating. Notes (FWIW) I have rebooted several times. I have an active internet connection I have a lifetime plex pass Running latest firmware as of today, 12-28-16. Firmware Version V1.0.1.36. Thank you!Solved3.6KViews1like2CommentsDoes Plex only run off of USB on the R9000 or can it access a NAS?
I have a WD EX4 NAS which I currently use to house my Plex content currently running off of a PC. One of the attractions to picking up the R9000 was its ablity to run Plex, but it doesn't seem to want to work without a USB drive attached. Does Plex on the R9000 run exclusively off of a USB drive or can it run off a NAS like a regular Plex server?Solved5.5KViews0likes8Comments
